Playing it Smart

I took last night off from my scheduled workout. I was going to do a reverse brick (5 mile tempo run followed by 30 minutes on the trainer). But as soon as I got home from work, I figured I’d skip a holiday party to stay home and cook Pharmie some Thai Curry and some homemade Guacamole (weird combo, I know) because she was having a tough few days.
Then I got to thinking that I CAN be taking it easy this time of year. I’m a week or 2 away from starting my half marathon training, and there’s no reason to over-do anything right now. My heel is a little sore, and I should just concentrate on building strength while letting my aches and pains heal up a little. Right? Right.
I shouldn’t do anything stupid. Like intervals on the track covered in snow. Yeah, that was probably unnecessary.
In brighter news, there is a random sign all over one of the schools where I teach. They say “I BELIEVE IN STEVE.” Everyone was asking me about it yesterday. I had NO idea what they were for. A staff member asked how she could get a fan club like that. And one of the maintenance guys told me he believed in me so much that he wanted to give me a hug. He actually chased after me to try to hug me. Weird.

That is too funny. Your students must like you a lot.
That's hilarious! And rest is a good idea, quite a few people have been talking about it lately.
That's awesome! Just think of all the power you have over those young fragile little minds. ;)
Steve,
As much as I like you and believe in you I think I might know what these are about. Possibly. When I was in college there were a bunch of signs and people wearing shirts for about a week that said, "I beleive in Joe" and then when the week was over this guy named Joe did a big presentation about a mission trip he went on. It was all basically advertisement to hype up his presentation and get people interested. I heard it was done with different people at different schools so that MIGHT be what's going on at yours. Or, you're just cool!
DeAnna, I think you're right...
That's kind of awesome and kind of creepy, I'm not gonna lie. :o)
I believe in you too :-P
Has the stalker announce its colors??
i'd have to agree a bit creepy, but go with it! LOL
It's good to be loved...as long as their not waiting outside your door, watching your every move...
Those signs are pretty nice. As long as those signs weren't in a toilet stall ...
Yes, snowy track intervals are just plan idiocy. I should know.
Hey...we believe in steve too.....
snowy intervals and all...haha!!
I didn't want to spoil the surprise but the signs were distributed by me. I just wanted you to feel special!
What, now you are Ferris Bueller or something?
Bueller...
Bueller...
Bueller...
Are we supposed to clap our hands too so you don't disappear?! (Clapping coming from way over here just in case!)
I like the signs. I may do some self-promoting...I believe in Kaolee. I believe in Kaolee. :)
Love the viral Steve campaign! I bet you are an awesome teacher:)
Hey, smart choice. I have to admit i was thinking i wanted to go run ( shovel ) with you last weekend but my common sense ( bed ) won out. And to that i said "Julia, who needs to suffer like that in ( wind, cold ) December!"
Glad you figured it out on your own, and if you want to really be a stud, post the thai recipe on your blog:)
That sounds healthy!
Take care, and when you decide to do 20 x 100's and 9 x..umm...9..laps of...kicking? (ok do the math...)
Lets do it. 2009 here we come!
I totally believe in Steve!!!
Ummm, that would be you!!!
Have a great day and rest days are the way to go!!!
You are a Super Steve Stud for staying home and taking care of Pharmie.
You ROCK!
I agree that the signs are kinda creepy. Great job enjoying your off season....
aw, a secret admiering school. awesome!
Very sweet of you to cook for Pharmie. Hope things turned out well.
You are right, relax and enjoy the down time before training starts up.
That is freakin awesome re: the signs!!
And it's definitely the off season. Down time baby. TV and chocolate...but it's totally justified b/c the heel needs some TLC...!!
Wow, I wonder who the culprit could be behind that fan club:)
Oh well, that's nice of them!
I believe in you too!
I think you should enjoy the stalkers while they last. They tend to all end up in prison some day.
You got some weird kind of cult following??? Or be truthfull, you printed them yourself and put them around the place to see everyones reaction?
Well, even funnier is the fact that I just googled "believe in Steve" and there are websites and t-shirts. hee, hee!! Look at this

That's awesome! I want my own signs.
yea, you have a fan club. cool. i can see that happening.
i am trying to lay low too, skipping a work out is ok right now. next month everything starts to kick in -
Steve, I'm verry sorry to inform you but my boyfriend made those posters & not with the intention to stroke your ego... his drummer is named Steve.
Though, I think CVA already has a formed a cult with you as their religious symbol.
