Semi-Wordless Wednesday: Some Halloween Pics

>> Wednesday, November 04, 2015

A few of these were posted on my Instagram page:

Henry as Iron Man (with Charlie in the background) during dress-up day at preschool.

Carving pumpkins Thursday night. Yes, Charlie's kissing my jack-o-lantern in the top pic.
And yes, we got the boys nearly naked to make clean up easier.

Iron Man and a sock monkey.

Our 6 glowing jack-o-lanterns glowing as we headed out to trick-or-treat.

Out with Mama (with Tootsie Roll residue on Charlie's face).

Buckets of candy and bags of cotton candy at the end of the night.

Eating sweet treats with Daddy before bed.

In matching PJs the next morning.

By early next week, I should have a review posted on a sweet new product. I'm waiting to see if I can do a giveaway as well. So stop back again soon!

Twelve

Tomorrow is 12 years since this:

We celebrated with a trip to the ER a few days ago. Henry was sitting on the dining room table playing with his Legos, when Pharmie and I watched him lose his balance and slip off backwards. Shortly after, I Instagrammed this:

"The Elmo ice pack has never been so bloody. Waiting to see if Henry needs stitches.
He's totally fine, just a gash on the back of the head."

Here are a few more pics from the ER:

A waiting room pic for Mama. He was in good spirits.

After getting the wound cleaned out, and waiting for the numbing gel to kick in.
(Playing with this sweet toy on the wall.)

Numbing gel washed off, cleaned out even more, and ready for staples.

Stapled shut. The doc was quick - she gave me a look to imply "hold him," and she shot those in
his head in less than 20 seconds. Henry whined a lot, but he didn't cry. No tears.

A grape popsicle just before midnight to celebrate a successful ER visit.

A photo I Instagrammed early the next morning: "Back home after a long night. Five staples
in Henry's head. He was a TROOPER! (That's blood all around his collar -
the 2nd load of bloody laundry is in the wash right now.) Thanks HCMC!"

Henry had an ibuprofen that night, and then slept until 9:30 the next morning. He's had no pain meds since, and likes to show off his staples! Here's what they looked like 36 hours later:

Hopefully, we celebrate our actual anniversary with less drama. But I guess whatever happens happens. (Oh, and the doc gave me a staple remover so I can take the staples out myself sometime mid-next week. Watch my Instagram for possible photos of that disaster.)

The last few anniversaries have been a bit different than our first 7. Now, there's not time for movies, dates, and nice restaurants. There's less romance now, but way more love.

I love you, Hunnie!

Charlie's First Birthday!

>> Saturday, May 16, 2015

It's hard to believe that this was a year ago:

First at-home bath around 6 days old.

Here's Charlie's full birth story with lots of fresh baby photos.

This past Sunday (his actual first birthday), we had everyone over. We had to wake him up for his big day:

A BIG dump truck from Uncle Mike!

A cupcake firetruck!

"Is that all for meeeeee?" (Singing Happy Birthday!)

Note to local parents: if you buy a cake online through Kowalski's,
you can get a free "smash cake" for your 1-year-old to destroy.

Cousin Evie is super pissed that Charlie got his own cake. SUPER. PISSED.

Frosting + cousins = stains. #NotOurKids #WeDontCare #HAHAHAHA

We didn't let him eat that whole cake. But this is all the left from the slice we cut for him.

From my Instagram: "Happy 1st Birthday, Charlie!! I'm no expert,
but I *think* you've had enough frosting... #SugarCrash"

Oh, and in related "kids cuteness" news, Henry just got his first school pictures ever! He totally looks like he's up to something...

I love my dudes. :)

Henry's THIRD Birthday!

>> Saturday, June 14, 2014

Wow. What an awesome 3 years it's been. Henry turned 3 on Thursday, and Pharmie, Charlie, and I took him to the Mall of America to ride rides for 3+ hours. I rode on the first 4 with him, then I took Charlie as Mama went on the final 12 with him! Here are a few photos:

Running off to find the first ride!

QUICK NOTE TO PARENTS: look at how dead Nickelodeon Universe is at 10 a.m. on a Thursday morning. Get an unlimited rides wristband online to save $6 (around $28 with all taxes and fees) and go when they open. We waited in line ONCE while we were there. We were the only one on a few rides early on.

Selfie of Henry and me on the Log Ride!

Riding the Ferris Wheel with me!

Whippin' shitties with Mama!

Henry wasn't too sure about this ride as it was heading up...

... but he LOVED it in the end!

Ready to ride the Log Ride with Mama for a 2nd time!

While they were riding, I was playing Big Buck Hunter with Charlie in the Bjorn under a blanket.
He sleeps well under a blanket like a parakeet. And he pissed all over my shirt.
(I got 2 perfect sites, one of which included the trophy animal and all 5 critters.
I love all versions of BBH and will gladly take you on - I always have $1 in my pocket for it.)

An Instagrammed photo at the end of the day.

Passed out on the way home.

Birthday cake on the porch with the neighbors.

Yes, that IS the same shirt from the mall that Charlie pissed all over - thanks for noticing.

Eating cake on the porch floor with "his ladies."

And in related news, TODAY is the 8-year anniversary of my first blog post. I was training for my first triathlon 8 years ago. Check out my first entry HERE to see if I'm still living up to my first mission statement. :) Happy weekend everyone! Happy Birthday Henry!
