Friday Funny 1292: The Best Running Memes

Active.com put together the best running memes. Here's my favorites from their list:

No, you really can't.

I will always post Michelle Jenneke's warm up "dance."

"Ridiculously Photogenic Guy." I posted about him in 2012.

Love this one.

YES.

Smoother than smooth.

I posted about her in 2014 as she snapped selfies with hot guys as she raced the NYC Half Marathon.

This is actually a really good question.

When normal running isn't enough, try "Prancerise."

Friday Funny 1291: Housekeeping Tips

Perfection Pending posted a helpful article for Moms (and stay-at-home-DILFs like me) regarding housekeeping. It starts with "Do real moms really manage to clean baseboards and dust ceiling fans weekly? The answer is – come over to my house and see for yourself. Or no. The answer is no." And it has this helpful chart:

I really connected with "consider dusting, but just laugh."

MDRA Mississippi 10 Miler Photos

>> Wednesday, June 28, 2017

I guess it's "race photo week." Here are some photos of my wife doing the MDRA Mississippi 10 Miler from last month. First a few from race buddy Tom (who was the lead biker, but a friend had his camera):

At the start. There's my wife in pink, and her friend Megan next to her in the pink hat.

In the background on the right, heading down Shepard Road. (Mile 4ish?)

Megan and my wife!

Nearing the finish. Nice work, ladies!

Wayne Kryduba was out there to take photos too. He showed up where we were cheering near the top of Hidden Falls, and I stepped back to let him do his thing. He ended up getting a lot of photos of people smiling while getting high-fives from my boys. We'll get there in a second, but first here are 2 from earlier in the race:

Running among the cottonwood fluff in Crosby Farm.

Running up to the Crosby Farm lot by 35E.

High-fives from my boys near Hidden Falls!

Who's that in pink back there?!?

It's Megan and Mama!

Mama excited after high-fives.

Running off to the turn-around (that's my wife in pink on the left).

More high-fives as we waited for Mama and Megan to come back from the turn-around.

Back again! I love my wife's smile.

Calling out to her boys!

A smooch before running off.

She really like that race. It's a typically inexpensive MDRA race, and it had a beautiful looping route through Crosby Farm and along River Road. If I have the mileage under my legs next year, I'd love to race this one!

Official Trinona Triathlon Photos

>> Monday, June 26, 2017

I’ve looked through the official photos from the Trinona Triathlon, and here are a few I want to share.

First, here are a few of me:

Starting the swim. (It was a TT start, and I started with the guy about to dolphin dive.
Had we already caught the guy in front of us? I’m confused.)

Close up. Sweet shot with all the water flying everywhere.

My typical "crotch-first" run into a lake.

OK, but seriously, I don't know why I always sprint into a lake crotch first. I noted that in 2 other posts from 2 years ago:

Trinona 2015 where I said I "like to make sure my crotch is the first part
of me to enter a room/vehicle/lake."

Newspaper photo of me from the 2015 North Mankato Tri showing my patented crotch-first start.

OK, back to this year's Trinona photos...

Exiting the water knowing I had a decent swim!

Coming to the line about to stop my watch.

I was toast. Good effort. Solid race.
(And I'm pretty sure that's Mike B who I ran with for a bit topless back there.)

Officially done.

Close up. Sweaty. Gross.

"Ooh look, a penny!"
(Unstrapping my chip while trying not to die. I stayed like this for 20 seconds.)

Here are a few of my YWCA Endurance Sports teammates:

Glen lookin' sweet finishing up the bike.

Kate finishing 3rd in her age group!

Brie finishing the bike with a smile.

This was Brie's first "non-indoor YWCA" triathlon,
but THIS guy maybe overshadowed her as she came to the line.

Look at her face. I remember that feeling.
The "holy crap, I just did it" feeling. Nice work, Brie!

And here are 5 of YW teammate Sarah finishing with a sub-44 10K run. She caught up to a guy in the chute and it's funny to watch him react to her closing so fast. It reminds me of when I was being passed at the end of the Brian Kraft 5K last month when I shot the guy the (unintentional) stink-eye:

Closing...

... closing...

... "wait, who's this?"...

Crossing the line at the same time.

Oh, and here's one final photo of a handsomely furred chest that was allowed to breathe on the bike:

Here are links to my previous Trinona posts from these last 2 weeks:

My true "race report"
Some nice newspaper photos from the race
A few final race thoughts
