12 Days Until Grandma's Marathon!

>> Monday, June 09, 2008

Twelve: The number of pounds I lost in the last 7 months of Ironman training last year. And I really didn’t have 12 pounds to give. I went from 159 to 147, and I looked a little gaunt.

Twelve months ago, because of knee problems, I was only running 3.5 to 4 miles at a time. Exactly 12 months ago today (June 9, 2007), I was SUPER PROUD that I ran 6.5 miles just under 8 minutes per mile without a lot of pain. Since then, I think IM WI was the last time I ran that slow. Now, in 12 days, I’m hoping to run a marathon in under 7 minutes per mile (hopefully). How times change.

I think there could be a song in this: "On the 12th day before Grandma's, taper gave to me... phantom pains in my knee" or something like that...

Just think... when you reach your goal you can have 12 beers. Now how does that sound??

Good luck at the marathon and enjoy your taper this next week.

That's really awesome! You are going to have a great race!

If you run that fast, you won't even have to worry about the aches and pains because it'll be over with so fast! I'll keep my eye out for you (my wife is running)!

Sub-3 I see... should be fun. Looking forward to it (both for you, and for me later this year when I go for the same).

You are going to rock that race and we can't wait to read the full report!

Good luck, sir. You just made me realize that if I was FAST like you, I could have spent 2 HOURS LESS running my marathon a couple of weeks ago. I'm pretty sure you could beat me while pushing a stroller and wearing a Santa suit! I dare you to try it!

SS, really no inner illegal meaning to my fundraising comment. I thought, "SS is so good at getting free stuff...socks? maybe he can figure out a way to help me get a free..disc?" Then again why wouldnt you keep it. I dunno. Just lost logical thinking for a minute.
Glad the ART is helping...

I'm glad the therapy is working, and I have a feeling you're going to rock the race!

Can I trade places with you? That marathon will be easy for you compared to IM!
