Free To Run 5K Photos

>> Saturday, July 05, 2008

The following are some of Gary’s photos from the Charities Challenge “Free To Run 5K” yesterday. That’s why I love these events - the president of the organization is running around with his little digital camera, shooting photos of everyone! When does that happen?!

Everyone waving at the start (no need to point me out):

Ready, set, go:

Hitting the finish line, stopping my watch:

As I mentioned in my last post, Gary had me announce the finishers for a while. Part way through, he told me to pose for a photo. This is the best pose I could come up with. Sorry it sucks so hard:

People haven’t posed like that since the 70s...

This woman brought someone to run the race from Switzerland, and here I am announcing him as he comes to the line:

Getting ready to go, when Gary asked me to say a few words:

Here are the official results:

The first female was on my tail - just 20 seconds back

- 3rd overall
- 2nd in age group
- 2nd personal fastest 5K

So check out the last post for my race report if you missed it. And thanks Gary for all the great photos, and for a fun race!

(And now that’s 5 out of the last 6 posts that contain the “bowl full of sunshine!” Sweet.)

The outfit really scares me, but the LSU colors rock.

It is indeed borderline scandalous. I am glad to see you have gotten more brazen and no longer wear the spandex shorts underneath :-)

hey good job! i did notice that in the first photo where you are announcing the finishers...i thought wow steve has got some really skinny arms, look how loose that livestrong bracelet is on his wrist! then in the next photo i see that it was just your headband. i guess your wrists arent as dainty as they appeared!

Great photos. Still love the shorts.

Please tell me you beat Mr. Studly No-shirt with the red reflective shoes!!!

The only thing that would have been better for you photo is if the microphone would have been SUPER SKINNY and white. LOL!

Oh, Steve. I think you missed your *calling.* You look like a natural.

Viv 8:49 AM, July 06, 2008

Love the pics! The pose was too much it looks like you were singing. "Staying Alive" popped in my head for some reason.

Congrats on another zippy race! And what an honor to be able to announce after...seems like you managed to stay on your best behavior, too :). What a beautiful venue for a race.

P.S. LOVE the 4th of July cards.

brendaj 1:09 PM, July 06, 2008

I was thinking of Staying Alive too!

Gotta Run..... 4:01 PM, July 06, 2008

You are a total ROCK STAR!!!! Love it!

M 5:19 PM, July 06, 2008

Who needs a fancy pose when you have those shorts?

JenC 5:21 PM, July 06, 2008

I love that you have fun with this sport AND you are fast! You don't usually get both from one person.

Michelle 6:55 PM, July 06, 2008

Ah, geez, when did you add the yellow head band and tube socks?! As if it wasn't bad enough before...

Collin Kromke 7:43 PM, July 06, 2008

Damn you! I've been saying "bowl full of sunshine" for about a week now! That's not so bad all by itself, but that pixelated image of you always seems to pop into my head at the same time. I'm about ready to stick a screwdriver in my ear just so I can end the torture.

M*J*C 7:43 PM, July 06, 2008

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm loving the yellow shorts, total "sunshine"!!! Awesome job with the race!

Man, the sunshine emitting from your shorts is blinding. (that was an awkward sentence.)

MR 7:29 AM, July 07, 2008

Just found your blog.... very funny and uplifting.

Erin Leigh 8:19 AM, July 07, 2008

You are super fast. I think it is time to lay out in the yellow shorts so your thighs lose that pasty whiteness, LMAO.

Kim 9:25 AM, July 07, 2008

how does your penis not fall out of your shorts?

Jade Lady 8:41 AM, July 14, 2008

Ok, how many bowls of sunshine do u really have? A drawerful?

And....what's up with the tube socks? Man..that does take me WAY back in time...I'd laf at u, but since u're smoking hot on the run, I'd be foolish to.
