Don't Do This...

>> Thursday, April 02, 2026

Yikes...

ZERO awareness of anything around her. "Main character energy" one might say.

And by the title of this post, maybe some of you thought this was going to be about endurance sport influencer Matt Choi being disqualified from his first 70.3 IronMan, but it wasn't. THAT ALSO happened just a few days ago. Click that link for more, but THIS incident of his seems like an honest mistake. As the article concludes, "When you’ve been banned for life from one of the world’s most iconic races, investigated twice by Marathon Investigation, and have made a habit of bending or outright ignoring race rules in pursuit of content, the benefit of the doubt gets harder to extend — even when the mistake looks clean."

It's been a weird week in endurance sports.

Instagram of the Day: My Wife's Birthday and Marathon Cherry Coke Zero

>> Wednesday, October 08, 2025

My wife had a birthday just after running the marathon this past weekend. I shared a photo of her in my TC 10 Mile race report drinking a Cherry Coke Zero. And I posted this recently on social media for her:

A HAPPY BIRTHDAY to this marathon baddie!
.
She asked for 2 bags of ice to help cool down at mile 17, so I brought 3. And a Cherry Coke Zero. She was excited to take a few swigs.
.
Sure, I could have drank the rest, but instead I said “CHERRY COKE ZERO ANYONE? MY WIFE HAD A FEW SIPS. SHE’S NOT SICK. ANYONE NEED SOME CHERRY COKE ZERO?!?” A woman just ran past looking defeated and turned around to say “Oh fuck… why not?…” and proceeded to pour some into her mouth. Another man and another woman did the same. Finally, a 5th person stopped as she said “Oh shit! Sweet!” And she guzzled most of what was left.
.
Now the boys want to set up a card table with a few two-liters of Coke in dixie cups to give out to runners next year.
.
Anyway, happy birthday Sarah!! ❤️❤️❤️

Love you cutie! Happy Birthday / TC Marathon weekend!!

My Wife's 23rd TC Marathon and Henry's PR 5K!

>> Saturday, October 19, 2024

Two weeks ago was the Marathon/10 Mile weekend. My son ran his 6th or 7th 5K that Saturday morning, and I took him down to his race to cheer him on.

2300 people starting!

Here comes Henry! He's looking for me to throw his sweatshirt at me.

We figured it wouldn't be fast as he was running on just soccer training - he hadn't been out for a run in weeks. And he wanted to pin his number on his shorts, but I said "No, it's like 50 degrees... you won't be taking off your shirt."

Well, after 20 minutes, he came running by... WITHOUT HIS DAMN SHIRT ON:

He runs HOT like his Dad.

Running off with about 0.2 miles to go.

Post-race with a classmate who was about a minute faster than him.

WHAT'S THAT ABOUT A "SLOWER 5K" ONLY
ON SOCCER TRAINING?!?!? HE ENDED UP PRing!!!

Nice work Henry!!

Then Sarah and I had her marathon and my 10 mile the next morning. Here are some pics from her day:

Selfie before I ran off to start my 10 Mile.

A wider shot from Angela.

Hanging around outside her work before her marathon start.

Her and her training buddy Alicia.

The 2 of them again.

Without her partner - Sarah was feeling rough and Alicia was feeling good!

We saw her around mile 17 - those are our boys!

Charlie and I looking for her at mile 21...

... here comes Mama!

Alicia and Sarah after the finish!

She WORKED to break 5!! She realized it could be possible
with a few miles left and really put the hammer down!

Icing her legs (knees and butt) under the blanket while Bruce keeps her warm.

Congrats hunnie!! This one was rough, but she got through it! :)
