One of those reminded me: In grad school, I had a class where the instructor's syllabus had every journal reference she'd be using, so I read the papers rather than attend the class. I just went for the exams. One day, my major professor looked out of his office into my lab and said into the phone "No, he's fine. He's right here." She'd been trying to return my exam and every day I wasn't there to take it, so she was worried!
