New Balance “Anti-Stink” Shirt Giveaway
>> Tuesday, July 06, 2010
I wrote about the New Balance “NBx Emissive Long Sleeve” shirt last week as part of my “Does It Work” series. (Click here to see that post.) I was skeptical that a shirt could have silver woven into it to keep it from getting funky, but I really think it works! Well, the people at New Balance now want me to giveaway one of the NBx Emissive shirts on my blog!
Here are some photos from this spring where I ran a 5K PR and a half marathon PR* in my NBx Emissive:
And here’s a better picture of the shirt:
THE GOOD NEWS: The people at New Balance have a shirt they want me to give away. THE BAD NEWS: They only have men’s shirts right now. Women can TOTALLY enter, but if you win, you’ll have to decide if you want to try to fit into a men’s shirt (which might be “cut” differently than a woman’s shirt), or if you want to give the shirt to a nearby man. It’s totally up to you. If you’re a woman who has smaller boobs than me (and I know there are plenty of you out there), then a men’s version of this shirt will fit you just fine. But if you’ve a woman who’s been “blessed,” then it’s your call. If you win, you might want to give the shirt to the man in your life. You don’t have to decide now.
HERE’S HOW TO ENTER TO WIN:
These are the rules. They couldn’t be easier.
• Step 1: Comment on this post to be entered.
• Step 2: Check back next Monday or Tuesday to see if you’ve won.
See? Couldn’t be easier. Oh, but a little amendment to Step 1: You do NOT need to be a blogger, but make sure to leave some specific info so you’ll know if you won. So you could say something like this: “Hey Steve, this John Smith from Topeka, and I want that shirt! Thanks!”
The fine print:
- Contest only open to US residents. Sorry
- You may comment now (on THIS post) through 10 pm Central time on Saturday, July 10th. The winner will be contacted late on Sunday or Monday.
- The winner will be chosen at random by a random number generator or by drawing numbers out of a hat.
- Check back this Monday or Tuesday (July 12 or 13) to see if you won! (Especially if you don’t have a blogger account because I have no way of contacting you.)
- If I don’t hear back from the winner within 2 days after posting that they’ve won, I’ll draw another name and give the shirt to someone else.
- And because I can make up the rules, I MIGHT give some people an extra entry if they leave a real witty, funny, or crazy comment. Maybe. ;)
Thanks New Balance for the great shirt!! So comment below to be entered!!! Thanks everyone!

What stinks? Not me if I win this shirt :-)
This is Kevin Jacobs from Orlando. Please enter me into the contest. BTW Great blog.
US only, not fair Steve :P
First! Ok, seriously, can a woman wear this shirt comfortably? If not, then don't put me in the running...
I love your "does it work" series. Because of this, i am willing to try different things that you talk about.
Have a great week!

FIRST!
That should be good for 2 entries right?
I'm not eligible because of my apparent "affliction" of being Canadian. Boo urns!
Nice anti-stink shirt, though. I'd totally stretch it out but in a good way.
Good luck everyone!
Give it to me! Give it to me! I'm so damned tired of doing laundry that I'm thinking of replacing my whole wardrobe with antimicrobial/antistink clothing.
So, send the shirt to Paleo Dan out in Va Beach.
I'll give it a real test. After a run in 99deg 99% humidity Florida the funk coming off your is incredible ;)
-Sean in Fl
I really work up a stank and would like one of these shirts!
Shirt looks cool. I would like to put into the drawing
woohoo First comment! I would love to have this shirt Steve. Maybe the wife would stop telling me my workout shirts stink!
I'd like a non-stinky shirt, please.
Me! I like to win things. :)
Hey, Steve, this is Skatemom from Texas, and I want that shirt! Thanks!
(and, yes, I'll probably keep it for myself! cause I'm like that!) =)
This is Sharon from Houston. I would love an anti-stink shirt :) Thanks Steve!
Hey Steve, Mark from New Haven, CT - I need this shirt cause I have a tendency to stink (during runs)...just ask my wife or anyone thats within a 1/2 mile radius of me at a race.
Hi Steve, P from Adventures of an Average Athlete here! Even though my boobs are probably smaller than yours, I'm entering to win the shirt for my dear husband. :-)
Hey Steve-- Katie K. from St. Paul. I totally get that it's not up to you what you give away, but I'm ready for your PR people to have some women's gear!! Oh well, if I win, I'll give the shirt to Matt. Will I really be the first comment?? I may not be witty enough to earn an extra entry, but I did share my umbrella with you this weekend to keep your camera dry -- that's got to be worth something, no?
Hey Steve, I'd love to be entered in the drawing for the shirt! Thanks! Trevor from New Hope.
Pick me, pick me! :)
I am a bigger dude and probably rocking a solid B cup, so it should still fit. As such, I have great need for a shirt that can mask my workout aroma. Pick me.
Oh man, I don't just want this shirt, I need it. I have to do a separate load of laundry with just my workout clothes so they don't stink up the rest of our clothes. I have to take my workout clothes straight to the laundry room because they make our bedroom stink if I leave them in the hamper. A shirt like this could be a Marriage saver.
Hi Steve. I would love to try the shirt - even if I am a women and you only have mens. I'd like to see if it really keeps the funk away. BTW - this is Lora Erickson aka Blonde Runner. Great blog!
Anti-funk? I want to test it out...or have my DH test it...he does smell worse most days.
Steve, this is Dennis R. from just down the river in La Crosse, WI. I'd love to win the shirt!
A shirt that I can wear without washing and not have it stink...sign me up!!
Anything to not stink stank stunk!
Steve,
Just my comments for the NB shirt giveaway. Out of curiosity, have you ever run 50k ultra or longer?
I am totally excited about this shirt. I am always forced away from people after I run or ride my bike, but now I may not have to be!
Hi Steve, this is Denise from IL. I would love to win that shirt for my dad. He's the best, but his running clothes stink!
This is Kevin Jacobs in Orlando. Please add me to the contest.
Steve - Coach Rich from Mpls - now if they could just put that technology in my son's hockey equipment!
Hey Steve--I want that shirt! I'm counting on it making me speedy like you (how's that for sucking up?)
MissZippy from
misszippy1.blogspot.com
Toss me in for an entry. Now, if NB would only come up with some anti-swass shorts...
Hey Steve!
Katie L from Minneapolis, and I like trying to win things, so throw my name in the hat please!
Wow! Believe me, I need an anti-stink shirt!
Thanks for the awesome giveaways.
Oh, I need me some anti-stink technology. Maybe then I'll have more running friends... ;)
Can has contest entry for the shirt.
Hi Steve, Nate S. from Maine. I would love to win this shirt. Anything that is made not to stink is just plain awesome.
Oh, I need me some anti-stink technology! Maybe then I'll have more running friends... ;)
Steve-- My boobs aren't much bigger than yours, and I want that shirt!!
Tammy from Phoenix
Who knew you had such stinky readers? Great giveaway Steve!
I think my wife will appreciate this shirt more than me! I stink!
Yeah! Anti-stink clothing!
Thanks for cheering at the half on Sunday! When I saw you at mile 11, I wanted to yell "Steve in a Speedo, I want to be a foxy Moxie!" but I didn't think of it until I passed you.
Hey Steve! My wife thinks all of my running shirts stink. A non-stink running shirt would make her happy. And you know the saying, "happy wife, happy life".
Yeah, so I'm not a guy. But I'm a super sweater so I'd love to try out the anti-stink shirt.....and sadly, yeah, I won't have a problem with the chest fitting in the shirt.
Awesome. Count darren from wichita in please for a pr creating shirt!
It would really stink not to win this,.
Hey Steve, I would love to win this shirt. Anything that keeps the stink away has got be one cool shirt.
Coooooool. I hope I win!
Steve,
Include me in your drawing for the non-stinkable shirt.
Hi Steve, it's Laura C from Milwaukee. I would love to win this shirt for my hubby who's training for his first tri!

Perfect! A shirt finally designed by highly disciplined engineers to match my non-disciplined lifestyle :) Thanks for the give away.
My wife says my running clothes stink, so I definitely need this shirt.
I need that shirt! Leslie in Parker.
I have little boobs, so I would definitely keep this for myself. I want that shirt!
I want in! Rick Henriksen from Utah.
OK, so I'm a lucky woman who will fit into the shirt so drop my name in the hat. Thanks. Shelly

Hey Steve! Let me just say that the shirt looks AWESOME on you and will hopefully look just as awesome on me, even though my 'chest protuberances' are larger than yours! Melanie from Mount Joy
hmmmm anti-stink has a good ring to it, could make for a great placebo for the next 5k pr even if you can't guarantee it!
I bet my husband could give this shirt's anti-stinkness a run for its money.
Do shirts have money?
I don't know. But my husband has stink and his cycling jersey is getting rank, so he would probably love this.
Ooooohhhh - pick me, pick me, pick me!!!!! While I am cute as a BUTTON, I am a sweater. In fact, I come from a long, proud line of sweaters. And with sweat, comes stink. I NEED an anti-stink shirt to keep me in total balance with my cuteness!!!!! I mean, really. Cute but smelly is really NOT right. ;)
I'm willing to squish my boobs into a men's shirt (it's depressing what a sports bra is capable of doing...)! But let me know when they come up with anti-sweat!
-Beki, from Lansing MI
I saw that the shirt fights off athlete's foot fungus. Now I know that some people have smelly feet, but I don't think buying a shirt is going to help. I don't have athlete's foot but I would like to have that shirt, so throw me in the hat, please.
This is David from Grand Rapids, MI - If this shirt really works my wife would love me to win it!
I'd love to win this shirt.
Sounds like a good idea. I'd like to give the shirt a try. I live in HI and the heat/humidity does a number on running clothes.
Hi, Steve,
Please include me. My husband could use this shirt. I love reading your blog. Inspirational, funny, informational, and just plain good. Jan from Leopold.
Count me in Steve!
Pick me Steve!!
I'm pretty sure I smell like petunias when I run. But I'll take the shirt anyway! (TK in Feura Bush, NY)
It feels like both a 'can I wear this as a girl' and 'can I make it stink' challenge ... sign me up!
the shirt sounds great
I'm a bit disappointed in its lack of PRing qualities...but I guess its anti stink claim makes up for that
Three weeks ago I met a runner at a post-race party and he gave me a bike ride home on his bike pegs and then later we were chatting and I asked when his b-day was and it's later this summer and so is mine so either he or I started making a present list that got left blank (maybe we got pre-occupied) so I have no present ideas listed for him so THIS WOULD TOTALLY WORK! Please enter me.
Yep, sign me up for anti-stink!
Dan
Morgan Hill, CA
I want this!
Kristi
Atascadero, CA
If it can make me less stinky, I think that would be a plus for everyone I work with!!
“Hey Steve, this John Smith from Topeka, and I want that shirt! Thanks!” except this is Christine and I live in Elkhart... otherwise!
My husband totally needs this shirt!
I want to know how you got that awesome long-stridey photo where you look like you're actually running, and not just shuffling the gravel under your feet....
Hey Steve! I'm a woman who's been "blessed" and I would be happy to test out the men's shirt for women. Besides, I need something to keep me stink-free so that the man in my life will stay by my side!
Steve, I would love to win this shirt and see how stinky I, or my husband, can get it.
Jen from Ravenna
I know a man (whose name isn't Stan)
Who doesn't have much running gear.
I think he'd look good in this shirt with no hood,
And keep up with his running all year.
So please count me in the contest to win
this awesome shirt for my friend.
It's after 4 and I'm starting to snore
So I think it's time to go vend.
I like free stuff. Cheers!

i dig this shirt and would love to win one!!!
Count me in! (Twice if you're in the mood, but I know it's not one of those types of giveaways...)
Running = losing weight = losing cup sizes. I think I can fit into the shirt and if not I'll save it for future students that still haven't learned how to shower regularly even though they're in college.
Hey Steve
Dee Dee from ATL here this Shirt looks really neat. I would love to have it and I think Wes would be very jealous !!!

John From Wilmington NC
Hi Steve! Please put my name in the drawing for the no-stink shirt. My husband's running shirts are so funky they can run around by themselves. He really needs this shirt. Help a fellow MN'er out.
Pattie (TriRochester memeber, out in the corn of Dodge County)
In fear of my stinky shirt, my washing machine tucked in on itself like a man walking past Octomom.
Joe Sherry from Eden Prairie.
I can just hear my husband now..."there's not a shirt in the world that could disguise your nasty smelling funk after a workout." He almost threw last week while doing my laundry!!
It's worth a try anyway; put my name in the hat.
Nice shirt!!
Who needs a stinkin' no-stink shirt? I need me a stinkin' no-stink shirt! Sign me up.
- Michael
Give me that anti stank shirt.. I need it so the dogs quit chasing me due to my workout shirts being masked in the sweet aroma of foods.. Woof.. Woof no more..
Tyler - Illinois
I do not stink, I smell. Quite nicely, as a matter of fact. I wouldn't win anyhow.
But that's beside the point. The point being: even if I did, I live in Brazil, so, no shipping for me. Everybody should be accepted.
Holy crap do you have alot of takers for this giveaway! I want in too:)
Julie at Julie's Running Blog
Please put me in. Love your blog!
Hi. Keith from Canada, who is bummed out. Still, I want in, and can guarantee that if you draw my number/name out of a hat, it will get shipped to a US address. What happens to it after that is nobodies business. Right? Hope that's ok.
Cool, Steve, thanks for the opportunity!

I could really use a shirt that doesn't stink - my wife is never a big fan of the ominous odor coming from my running clothes in the dirty laundry pile.
GOOD GAWD...I hope it's the same shirt STEVE WORE!!

I would love to win this for my husband - his running clothes stink!
I would love to win this!!
Would love to try it!! I'm also definitely skeptical of stuff like this. "Sports" specific laundry detergent?? Okkkk. But I'll try anything once!
While my fiance doesn't stink, it couldn't hurt to clad him in anti-stink wear!
I'm in! Thanks Steve...
Anti-stink clothing is just the thing that my hubby needs! Some days I have to tell him to just please deposit his smelly running clothing outside or just to directly take them off as soon as he comes in through the door and drop them in the laundry.
I have been well endowed so I know that it won't fit my babes but if I won it, I would give it to my hubby for sure!
My shirts all stink, so this one would be helpful...i'm in
Would love to win!
Steve, this is Kris from Minneapolis and I could stand to stink less.
A shirt would be good, a shirt that doesn't stink would be great.
Thanks,

Yes please! Hope I win!!
I must win, for I have traded my Brooks Beasts in for NB 1001's, and bought NB socks. But all my running shirts are Brooks. I won't match unless I win!
