Friday Funny 105: Steve in a Speedo's New Speedo
>> Friday, July 30, 2010
I got a package in the mail yesterday. It was our recent order from SwimOutlet.com. It contained a sweet new suit for me. If I can work up the courage, I think this is ALL I'll wear at Sunday's sprint triathlon:
No tri shorts.
No tri suit.
Just a swimsuit straight out of 1983.
Awesome.
I think my butt will survive 14 miles without a little padding. I hope.
Also (and this is kinda funny), Gear West just announced a new duathlon that they are going to put on this September. It's a run / bike / run / bike / run. No, that's not a typo. Yes, you read that right. You can do it as an individual or as a team - both team members do the entire race, and then they take the finishing time of the second finisher. BUT, the teammates can work with each other and draft off each other on the bike. AND they actually have a "significant other" team category! How sweet is that?! Click here to see more details about the first ever "Mosquito Man Duathlon."
Happy Friday!

Oh my...that suit is just awesome! You should totally wear it for the tri! It would be hilarious!
if you're worried about the padding, you could always get one of these bad boys for your saddle: http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/Product_10052_10551_1032431_-1_1534003_20000_400033
Oh my, I really hope you work up the courage. But something tells me you will!
I think I see a cat lounging on the bureau in the background. :)
I'm young enough to remember suits like that actually being worn at the beach in California.
you should wear a cup over that.
i just bought a suit from Splish with a hotdog on the front and it says on the back, "im a winner, not a weiner". cant wait to wear that one!
#1 - someone actually makes that?
#2 - someone actually sells that?
#3 - someone actually bought that?
Oh my...
I trying to think of how I can bribe you to wear that an only that for the tri on Sunday. (You do mean shirtless as well, right?)
Dude, you've got to go for it!
Ha! Yeah, thanks Kyle! ;)
I am going to my 25th class reunion next weekend, can I borrow those?
say whaaat?!?! why can't the ladies' "grab bag" suits ever be cool like that? >=/ jealousy.
that race does indeed sound intriguing. i'll look into it!
p.s. were you the one who recently did a bike fit @ GW? i need some advice...
I heart swimoutlet!! That suit is cool and the Gear West race sounds even cooler...too bad I live down south!
Love the suit!
You should include a neon yellow cropped tank top too. Actually, it would have been a better (um...worse) image if you had rocked a REAL Speedo in those colors - not jammers.
That is excellent! You really, really must do it!
Um, wow. I really need to jump on to this grab bag thing.
That is retro in a fun way for sure!
If you wear that at Waseca you will forever be my hero! I say go for it, we want Waseca to be one of MN most fun races...this will be a good start for sure Steve!!!
True story: I got my husband a very funny Splish suit (rainbows and unicorns), and some lady at the adult lap swim at our pool called the cops because she thought he was the sketchy man who'd been reported "showing an interest in kids" at the pool. (He looks nothing like the physical description of that guy, for what it's worth.) Just be careful where you wear the suit, is all. Yikes.
KT: HA! That's so bad that it's good!
And to everyone else, I should make it known that I CHOSE this suit. It was NOT a "grab bag" suit. I don't think SwimOutlet would be that evil.... ;)
I so hope you went with this suit today! :)
Those feet gotta go!
