Two Nice Weeks of Training

Here's a glance at the last 2 full weeks of my training log:



• Mon, 2/20: 11 mile long run, and legs. Long run was a bit faster: the middle 6 pace miles in the middle were from 9.1 to 10.2 mph (37:17 for 6 miles, or 6:12.8 pace). Total run was 1:14:53 for 11 miles, or 6:48 pace overall.

• Tues, 2/21: 3x500 in the pool, and quick upper body. I posted about this rough swim 2 weeks ago.

• Wed, 2/22: easy run, lots of core and legs.

• Thurs, 2/23: long-ish trainer ride, and decent upper body. The "guts" of this 100 minute trainer ride were 7x5 min efforts.

• Fri, 2/24: moderate treadmill run, lots of legs and core.

• Sat, 2/25: solid hour of upper body. I moved my normal trainer ride back to Sunday because we spent the afternoon at a wedding and stayed overnight in Mankato.

• Sun, 2/26: easy trainer ride, and lots of core. I did 30 mins of GOOD core in the hotel gym early after waking up early, and then did the rest before bed at home. And not much effort on the trainer as I had a long run coming the next morning (just 15 hours away).

• Mon, 2/27: REALLY nice 12-mile long run, and good legs. I posted about this last week: it was a longer run than normal that was a bit faster than normal. Overall, it was 12 miles in 1:21:19, or 6:47/mile pace.

• Tues, 2/28: 10x100 in the pool, and decent upper body. It had been a WHILE since my last workout of 100s. I was hoping to keep them under 1:30, and I pleasantly surprised myself: they were 1:25.9, 1:26.3, 1:26.2, 1:25.3, 1:27.5, 1:27.3, 1:25.4, 1:26.5, 1:25.9, and 1:24.9 for an average of 1:26.12/100.

• Wed, 3/1: easy run, lots of core and legs.

• Thurs, 3/2: 1:45 trainer ride, and first "weight room" upper body workout in a long time. The trainer ride was 4x10 min efforts and was nothing fancy. But the college weight room workout was great - my chest was sore for 3 days after as I'm used to doing sets of 30-35 push-ups and not just 8 reps on a bench press. Solid workout of 7x everything.

• Fri, 3/3: failed 3x1 mile intervals, and decent core and legs. I posted about the failed intervals 2 days ago. Still a bit bummed about that workout.

• Sat, 3/4: upper body circuts, and mainly easy trainer ride with 2x5 min efforts in the middle. I didn't go nuts with my upper body workout as I was still just a bit "pleasantly" sore from Thursday's nice workout.

• Sun, 3/5: core before bed.

That's a real nice "standard" looking 2 weeks except for the trainer ride on the 25th being done on the 26th. I like it when I have consistent weeks like that! February was pretty consistent overall as well, and I'll have that monthly recap shortly.
