Wordless Wednesday: a Ride with the Boys

>> Wednesday, August 11, 2021

Yesterday was the first day I didn't touch a scraper or a putty knife in the last 10 days. (I've been working on our living room and stairway.) Instead, the boys and I headed out for a ride. We drove to the start of Big Rivers Trail near 35E and the Mississippi River:

A mile or so into our ride. We saw a big eagle in
a tree along the river (behind my head) just after this.

Around our first turn-around south of the Mendota Bridge and north of 494.

A baby swallow learning to fly.

Climbing the sandstone bluffs under 35E.

We swapped out the tag-a-long for Charlie's actual bike to head in the other direction.

Along Pickerel Lake

Stopping to look for frogs.

Charlie on the way back.

We headed SW first, then came back and went NE with Charlie's bike.

We biked around 9.5 miles in 67 minutes, but we were out there for well over 2 hours because of our stops to play. The boys want to do that again. Charlie actually said it was his goal to bike every day now....

I love how you go at your kiddos' pace and allow time for stops & exploration. These are definitely tactics to keep them interested in coming back for more!
