Cheap Athletic Goods and an 8 Miler

>> Thursday, September 03, 2009

I’ve written a bit about 10:10 Wellness before: it’s a small athletic goods company that makes a GREAT homemade recovery drink called the “Monkey Shake:”

I like going through their closeouts to look for deals. I just placed an order for a lot of Powerbars, Gels, and a sweet 6 bottle Fuel Belt:

The fuel belt was on closeout, and it was only $20! Pharmie’s excited to use it when she’s running at her parents in the middle of nowhere.

Here’s the NEW news: If you go to 10:10 Wellness, you can use the coupon code "steveinaspeedo" (without the quotes) to get 10% off ANYTHING that you get from their site - clothing, accessories, Monkey, anything!! So check out 10:10 Wellness and see if you can find a deal. (If you’ll remember, they offered a 2 week special with that coupon code about a month ago, but now it’s a PERMANENT deal!!)

And on the running front, I did my long run for the week this morning: 8 miles. My heel felt GOOD, and that got me thinking. I always bitch when it’s hurting or injured, but I rarely say how lucky I feel when it feels good. So I’m not taking it for granted today! If you are training injury-free, take a moment to give thanks!! If you’re injured right now, what can you be doing to get better?

I ran the 8 miler hard, and hit the 4 mile turn-around in 25:12, and I made it back home in another 23:46, for a total of 48:58 over 8 miles (6:07 / mile average). I eased into the run the first few miles by running 6:35 - 6:25 miles, and I finished with 2 sub-6:00 miles (I ran the last mile, which includes 2 little uphill segments, in 5:45). I’m still SHOOTING for my crazy goal of sub-60 in the TC 10 Miler, but I think sub-61 is a more realistic goal. I’ve got 4 weeks of training left, so we’ll see what happens!!....

(p.s. Make sure to stop by tomorrow. I have a pretty good “Friday Funny” in the works...)

Sub 61, come on Steve. That's like talking yourself out of a Sub 60!

You made Sub 60 a goal sometime back and I am going to hold you to it. You have been rocking some great run times and we all know you can do it and do it while making Moob Sweat look classy.

Stick to your guns, er...goal and go on faith.

thanks for passing along the great deals at 10:10 wellness!

isn't it easy for us to complain when we are hurting, but rarely talk about how great it is when you are pain-free? YAY FOR NO INJURIES!

and go for that sub-60. you know you can.

Hey! You are like a permanent BIG DEAL on their site now! Sweet. You can walk around saying (like Anchorman) "I'm kind of a big deal."

Kudos on your training and swag. Can't wait for those Friday funnies.

I have to stop reading your blog...you make me feel so inferior.

**sigh**

X-Country2, I'm not TRYING to sandbag, I just don't know IF I can hit 60.

And thanks Liz. I'm starting to see that 60 MIGHT be possible, but I also know that 61 should really be doable. Sub-60 will take a hard race and a GREAT day. Thanks for setting me straight!...
