Recent Workouts

Just a quick update with my recent workouts:

Let's see.... when was my child born again? ;)

I'll try to turn this trend around shortly. But for right now, I'm focusing on being a good husband and dad while being less concerned about being a good triathlete.

That is the only way to go right now.

Sounds like you have your priorities straight :) They workouts can wait.

Parenting comes first 100% of the time. Give it time and you'll get back to training. For now focus on the hubby/daddy role.

Don't try to change anything! For a few weeks/months, you'll be adjusting and readjusting. You WILL get back to training, but it's not going to be a big priority for a while.

For now focus on baby, feeding, eating, sleeping. Everything else falls back.

+1 to the prior commenters. Being a good husband and dad is so important, and you'll get back to the training routine soon enough.

Cheers.

It took 2 weeks until I got my first run in post-baby. It is some good rest time to let your body recover, even if you aren't getting solid sleep!

Sounds pretty appropriate!! Congratulations again and good luck!

i would love to see you win a race pushing Hank in a stroller.

Good call Steve. I think you've gotta try to get the little one some mini splish lightening shorts too.

Priorities...

Try to live in the moment as much as you can in the days and weeks to come. It won't be long before you look at the pictures from the first week and can't believe your baby used to be so tiny and new.

Speaking of schedules... can Henry cut my lawn in 2025?

Congratulations, and don't worry too much about your fitness--parenting a newborn is pretty much all Zone 3/4, all the time. With some strength work thrown in for good measure.

Belated congratulations on the new addition! Take it easy as much as possible and good luck figuring out the parenting thing. Early happy fathers' day as well!

Yup... it's all good. However, getting a light workout or 2 in there will help a lot with all the new stresses that just entered your life. You'll feel a little more like yourself. So if you can even sneak a little 30-min jog in there, do it! You'll be happy you did.

Just wait 18 to 21 years and hundreds of thousands of dollars and you'll be back to "ME" time.
