We Finished the Square Lake Long Course Tri!

>> Sunday, September 07, 2008

Quick Note:

- Pharmie and I both finished the Square Lake Half Ironman today.

- I ran the entire 13.1 mile run in the Grim Reaper outfit.

- Then I cheered for all the other finishers.

- The following video is me cheering for finishers coming to the line. It’s just about the most random 81 seconds on the internet. Hope you enjoy it (I really scared one lady - see if you can spot her):

(this is why I don't go to clubs...)

Back with more in a day or two - I have a heck of a story to tell! And my sister-in-law Steph took a TON of great photos!

But now I need to go tend to my nipples that got rubbed off by the Grim Reaper outfit...

...seriously.

O*M*G* Steve, you are cracking me UP!! That is THE FUNNIEST freaking Grim Reaper Video EVER!!

Can hardly wait to hear (read) the rest of the story! OH MY GAWD, I'm still laughing...

Go look after your man boobs and hurry back!

ps, good job on the half to you and Pharmie!

Mendy 7:36 PM, September 07, 2008

OMG exactly! After finishing watching that, I had tears in my eyes from laughter. That was FUNNY!

I bet Pharmie is so proud of you. :-)

Congrats on the race. Looking forward to hearing all about it and seeing the pics.

TRI-ROB 7:40 PM, September 07, 2008

Esteban? That... well... you're now forever endeared to me. If and when I come to MN to race... you and I are getting a joint chest wax AND busting a serious groove!

Breathe...

Brian 7:49 PM, September 07, 2008

who woulda thunk that a dancing grim reaper could be so freakin' funny. especially with those moves.

Anonymous,  7:52 PM, September 07, 2008

That is PRICELESS.... that should be an advert for something I'm sure. Bugger Phil Collins and the drum playing gorilla....

YOU ARE HYSTERICAL!!! Can't wait to see the pics - the most anticipated blog entry in history I would have to say.

YOU ROCK!

PS. Congrats on finishing.

MissAllycat 7:57 PM, September 07, 2008

Even though your entire body was covered, I'm sure everyone knew that it was a white boy under that costume. :)

Meg 7:59 PM, September 07, 2008

Congratulations to you both! That was a fantastic video and dance. I can't believe you brought a radio!

Dave M 8:01 PM, September 07, 2008

Best thing I've seen all day, Steve! Reminds me of the Six Flags dancing old guy.

Mel-2nd Chances 8:06 PM, September 07, 2008

Unknown 8:37 PM, September 07, 2008

I'm still laughing. That was GREAT! I'm having a really hard time in waiting for the race report and pictures. Take care of the nips.

Jennifer P 8:39 PM, September 07, 2008

I think for this performance you should get a lifetime supply of Nipguards. That is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.

Trisaratops 9:04 PM, September 07, 2008

JUSTPEEDMYPANTSLAUGHING.

Matt just ran upstairs because he thought I was hyperventilating.

Who says white -er, dead men can't dance! Fantastic, can't wait to hear about the rest of the day!

Kelly 10:15 PM, September 07, 2008

I laughed when I watched.

Then I laughed harder when I watched it with the sound on.

Although I don't know if that counts as cheering.

Anne 10:19 PM, September 07, 2008

You did a half ironman -- in costume -- and still had enough energy to dance to kanye west?! I'm so impressed. I fully expected Blue Oyster Cult to be playing, but that would be hard to jam to I guess.

RBR 10:55 PM, September 07, 2008

Hil-freaking-arious!!

I am with Anne, and am seriously impressed that you can dance right after finishing a half iron tri!

Can't wait for the full report!

Run For Life 10:55 PM, September 07, 2008

HAHAHA! That made me cackle. Yes, cackle.

Unknown 11:01 PM, September 07, 2008

This is the funniest thing I've ever ever seen. Thank you so much for making me laugh my butt off. Congrats on the half IM.

Molly 11:27 PM, September 07, 2008

That is the funniest thing I've ever seen. You should take that show on the road - we could use it at every race!

Stef0115 12:29 AM, September 08, 2008

Oh.My.God. I had to watch that twice. SOFUNNY!!

Hope your nipples heal in a hurry.

Speaking of "hurry" please hurry with the race report and photos.

:-)

Pip 3:01 AM, September 08, 2008

OMG - the funniest video ever, and the music was perfect!

Please, more photos, especially the bleeding nips! I promise to post some gnarly blister photos at the next available opportunity!

C 4:37 AM, September 08, 2008

I feel offended, violated, and entertained at the same time. You are a true artist!

Anonymous,  6:58 AM, September 08, 2008

I didn't even think of telling you might want to wear nip guards under the outfit...so sorry, not that I wear them...

go tend to those tender nipples.

IM WI was good, didn't get my time, but the short story is two flats on the bike, and had to walk the last 13 on the run due to slosh belly :)

Marcy 7:00 AM, September 08, 2008

ROFLMAO! Duuuudddeeee very nice! Very nice!

Jess 7:27 AM, September 08, 2008

OMG I am dying laughing!! So simple, yet so friggin hilarious!

Herself, the GeekGirl 8:57 AM, September 08, 2008

I'm trying to think of what this brings to mind--oh, oh, it's ELAINE. On Seinfeld. Ever seen how she dances? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xi4O1yi6b0

I was waiting all weekend for that...and? Totally worth it. My favorite part was at the end when you threw down the sickle and walked away. Genius! I, like the other 46 commenters, can't wait to read the rest.

Papa Louie 12:48 PM, September 08, 2008

Steve, You sure have a lot of engery after doing a half Ironman. I'll be thinking of your engeries while I do my half this coming weekend.

sRod 3:25 PM, September 08, 2008

1. If I ever saw that during a race I would keel over in laughter (much like I did right now).

2. How does your brain operate so that it comes up with these ideas?

3. Your poor nipples. Maybe you should see if Under Armour makes a grim reaper outfit.

jeanne 3:31 PM, September 08, 2008

white men rock on! hilarious!

Rachel 4:00 PM, September 08, 2008

13.1 miles in a grim reaper costume? Rock on!

constance eustace 4:19 PM, September 08, 2008

I saw you yesterday! great costume.

Did you get wet, or do rain droplets die the second they touch the grim reaper?

akshaye 6:28 PM, September 08, 2008

Haha.. that was hilarious!

Anonymous,  7:00 PM, September 08, 2008

AddictedToEndorphins 8:34 PM, September 08, 2008

richvans 10:37 PM, September 08, 2008

no matter how hard you try - you can't out run death. You weren't supposed to pass me so early in the race. I liked giving you the blase "hey steve" when you blew by me in the costume.

Anonymous,  10:51 PM, September 08, 2008

I have to echo everyone's comments. That is pretty freakin hilarious. I don't think I could ever have the guts, but you, there's no stoppin ya. Oh yeah, nice job on the race too.

TriGirl Kate O 8:46 PM, September 09, 2008

So you think running 18 in a tropical storm is hard core?! No way. That was hilarious! Thanks for the good laugh.

Vickie 12:11 PM, September 10, 2008

LOL! Just wait for the new USAT rules to come out about wearing Grim Reaper outfits!

Alice 9:20 PM, September 10, 2008

YOu just earned my respect. Finishing a half ironman AND doing a little dance? Get out of here.
