Half IM Dress Rehearsal
>> Thursday, September 04, 2008
Tonight, it took me 3 minutes to go from this:
(My black cat, although appropriate to
the outfit, will stay home on race day)
There’s some good news and some bad news about Sunday’s Half Ironman. The good news is that it’s supposed to be pretty cool. That will be good because, well, look what I’ll be running in! The bad news is that it’s supposed to rain. That costume will get heavy if it gets soaked! We’ll see what the race brings!
Check back on Sunday evening to see what happened! If I don’t have time for a full post, I’ll at least post some fun photos to tide you over! Wish Pharmie and I luck!

Those are certainly some good-looking cats! Have a great race...
What's amazing is that in 3 minutes your cat went from being striped to all black. Good luck on Sunday.
ROFL! I was thinking the same thim as maggs...
Good luck this weekend! Can't wait to read the follow-up report!
Hope it doesn't rain on you! Have a great race and I can't wait to read about it :)
So what did you have to do to get that cat to go back arched, tail up?
It adds to the effect
I can hardly wait for the report. I hope you get pictures of others faces as they get passed by death.
Steve
Go to Gander Mountain or some other camping store and get the waterproofing spray that is used for tents and other nylon products. It will make that suit rainproof for about 10 bucks.
Good Luck. I wish you were going to be at IMWI so I could write on you.
I can't wait to hear this report.
The change in accessory cat in the photos is hilarious!
You should yell "BOO!" to everyone you pass. Good luck!
Dude, that's seriously scary!!!
it's sad when I look forward to updates from your blog. that's my weekend
Are you going to be biking with that cat attached to your leg? Cause that takes talent.
Good luck with the weather and I hope you both have a great race!
That? IS FREAKING AWESOME. I love it. Can't wait to read the recap. :)
You have to take the black cat on a lead for the run! :)
Good luck this weekend. Hopefully the weather cooperates.. Nobody likes a wet grim reaper running around.
Now, this is going to be good. Can't wait to hear about it.
I thought maybe you spray painted the cat black...that would have been cool..:-D
ROFLMAO Love it!! Lube er up baby!
Bahahaha I cannot wait to see race pics!
I SOOOOO wish I could see this in person.... :)
OK, I'm totally crying in the corner of my office. That's scary! Have fun!
Good luck on Sunday Grim! I can't wait to see some pictures of people being passed by the Grim Reaper! Just be careful when you swing that sickle... ouch!
No way you could get the "bowl full of sunshine" shorts on top of the costume, huh?
Good luck on Sunday. Can't wait to see the pics.
Cannot WAIT for this race report, Steve! and neat trick -- turning the cat black ;)
Yeah - the black cat totally adds to the outfit, are you sure you can't carry him/her with you?
i cannot wait for this race report... good luck!!
Good luck to both of you guys!
How much did you pay your cat to pose perfectly? Did s/he go to scary cat modeling school or something? Clearly, that cat's got talent.
Can't wait to hear how it goes. GOOD LUCK!!
That would scare the crap out of me!
i love it. but i dont love your cats. good luck my friend!

Hopefully it won't rain to make you look like a soggy grim reaper.
Good luck to you on Sunday! Go kick some a**!

Good luck Steve! And keep that rain away from us!
It's sure to be an interesting race report... From you and anyone who see's you running - especially if they happen to be a little fatiqued...
BEST OF LUCK!!!
Reason #21445 why body glide should come in an aerosol can
Go find some Scotchguard waterproofing spray by 3M in the laundry aisle of the grocery and spray that costume down if it is going to rain!
I can't wait to see the pictures.
Hahahaha! That is truly priceless! Best of luck to both you and Pharmie! Can't wait to read all about it . . .
I love the way you made the cat "transform" too :-)
Steve!
This is ridiculous. Jessie H. and I are crying because we're laughing so hard. You're ridiculous.
