Two Weeks of Life Updates

>> Monday, January 02, 2023

Here are some family/life updates from the last few weeks, with a good chunk of these coming from my Instagram page:

Taking my boys and some neighbor boys out sledding in the 30 below windchill before Christmas!

Henry getting some air.

Charlie post-crash.

Our cats know how to stay warm on chilly nights.

Charlie’s really gotten into football this year, and my wife had the idea to surprise the boys with some nosebleed seats at the Christmas Eve Viking’s game. It was the “white out” game where we were all supposed to wear white. The boys were surprised and THRILLED when we got to the light rail stop and said “should we hop on and go somewhere?”

We got there early to take it all in!

In their new “Skol scarfs!”

The boys “voted” and decided to leave the game a few minutes early to make it home in time for Christmas Eve mass - they didn’t want to have to leave home on Christmas with the thought of opening new presents! So after Justin Jefferson gave us an 8-point lead late in the 4th quarter, we took off. But then we heard the Giants got a touchdown and 2-point conversion to tie it, so we (and everyone else on the light rail train heading back towards St. Paul who left the game early) watched our phones as our kicker (Greg Joseph) kicked a franchise-long 61 yard field goal as time expired to give us the win! We missed out on that in-person excitement, but the boys were still happy we made it to mass that night:

After Christmas Eve mass.

My cutie trying out her new Christmas lipstick on me on Christmas day.

Presents!

I actually surprised her with this one!

Christmas at my in-laws!

Christmas with my Grandma!

Bruce with Burt this year vs last year.

Last week, the boys and I took off for a camper cabin in Whitewater State Park for 2 nights and 3 days. I’ll have more on this shortly, but here are 4 quick pics:

On a long hike during our 2nd day.

They love river crossings like this.

On top of the world!

Our cabin for 3 days. We were the only ones in the park during our last night!
(Well, us and the coyotes we listened to as we brushed our teeth in the snow!)

On New Year’s Eve, we had a family wedding. So we got spiffed up and stayed in a hotel:

She’s a babe.

She wanted a wider shot to show her sleeves.

Pool fun the next morning.

My bro-in-law Mike was a little disadvantaged by his son... ;)

Finally, we had a calm Sunday night at home after the wedding on New Year’s Day as the boys did some reading with the cats:

Happy 2023!!
