Started feeling “funny.”
Barfed.
Nearly fell in Lake Superior.
Started going blind.
Saw the inside of my first Medical Tent.

Steve! Noooooo!!! Get rested up, guy. We need you here in blogosphere!
OMG! NOOOOOOOO!!!!
what a nightmare! Hope you're back to normal real soon!
Steve I'm so sorry. I guess it happens to everyone at some point but it sucks. Get better and look ahead to the next one.
I'm sorry homie!! I hope you're ok now?!? You still rock no matter what ;-)
Condolences...
I was following you. You finished the 1/2 at a 7:09 pace then waited for the 20 mile.
and waited
and waited
something must be wrong with the transmitter at the 20 mile marker.
Then others passed it and it registered fine.
Oh no.
So sorry to hear Steve. I guess we all have to have a DNF at some point. You are proof that it happens to the best of them.
Sorry to hear about that. Hope you get well soon.
dude--so sorry...please feel better soon
Dang. You ran the Doughnut run and didnt barf (not sure how you physically pulled that one off). This must have been serious!
I feel like a horrible person...but I am kind of creepily looking forward to reading all the details. Sorry.
Oh no!!! Hope you're OK. Sounds scary ...

As my friend Kim would say "well, shit in a hat!"
Sorry your race went south and I hope you are feeling better - much better!

Oh My! Hope you feel better right quick.
There will be other opportunities and I'm sure you will be great.
Ack. Hang in there buddy - you're still the fastest guy I know. You'll get it next time.
OH no, so sorry buddy, rest up and recover, and I hope you're feeling better soon. Lots of marathons out there...
Oh! Take care of yourself!! There will be another race to conquer on another day.
i rushed home from coaching this morning to look you up. saw the tracker and saw your predicted finish time and got all excited. then i couldn't find you in the finisher's results!! i thought it was maybe a tracking glitch similar to my race day, but alas, i've just read your update.
oh man, i am so sorry, but "started going blind" = NOT GOOD. please rest up, and i'm sure pharmie is taking excellent care of you. finish or not, you are a rock star runner, and i know you'll be back with a vengeance!!
we all still look forward to any race report you'd like to share!!!
So sorry Steve! Hope you are feeling better SOON!
DNF is better than a DFL. How you are feeling better.
Ugh. What a bad day - sorry to hear it.
Recover well, and set your sights on the next one. You'll be back.
Oh no! take care dude- you'll be back and bigger than ever before you know it.
DOH!! I hope you are ok.
Started going blind= REALLY NOT GOOD!!
I will be impatiently awaiting to hear how you are
Yikes! Hope you're doing better now. Can't beleive you started to go blind.
Steve, so sorry to hear about your visit to the medical tent. I hope you are doing better and will be back on your feet to kick another marathon's rear in the near future. :)
Oh no! I'm so sorry Steve! I hope you are feeling better soon.
Wish you luck next time, rest up and try again.
Had a triathlon a few years back where I didn't even make it through the ocean swim. DNF - had to get drug back to shore THEN do the walk of shame back to the first transition to get my stuff.
Happens to all of us, glad you're at least alright, Grandma got you this time, but you'll get her next year.
OMG!!!
Rest up and get feeling better a.s.a.p.
I am sure you will let us know how it all played out and if you were right about your "1 Day Until..." post. I guess Grandma really did kick your butt!
Hang in there kiddo, you will nail it the next time. Is there another marathon around your neck of the woods within the next month???
Oh Steve...so sorry! Please take care of yourself!
get well soon
So sorry! Feel better soon! yikes. Sounds scary.
Get well soon!
Get well soon Steve, take care of yourself.
I am so sorry. There will be other marathons and races. You did the right thing. Get healed up and take care of yourself, you'll kick that much more ass the next time!
Dang Steve, Sorry to hear that. I was wondering what happened to you..
Get better soon.
Dude,
We all now what makes a champion is not how many time he falls, but how many times he gets up.
This is just another step in making your better, best.
See you soon.
Steve,
I have been telling you that continuously polishing your "beef bus" would make you go blind. I am sorry that it had to happen during your marathon, must have been a late night…….. Hope you feel better soon
I'm so sorry Steve. I hope you are okay!
Sheesh, you mean to tell me TWO of my fav activities could make me go blind!??! Bummer. What's my next vice to go hazardous? Tell me it's not beer... please God, not BEER.
Many hopes for a quick recovery man. You are good peeps and one hell of an athlete. You'll bounce back better than Heidi Klum post partum... guaran-fricken-tee it.
Oh no. Poop sandwich.
I'm sorry to hear that! Rest up buddy! Take care of yourself!
No worries. It happens to the best. Rest and heal up there are plenty of good fall races.
As for the going blind part I thought that was from the one activity that causes hairy palms.
I feel your pain. I was supposed to run Grandma's in 2006 but ended up in the hospital having my appendix taken out 3 days before! kind of like a "DNF" cuz you train so much and then it all goes down hill. I WILL run it again some year, and I have the feeling you will too :)
Rest up!
Sorry to hear that. You'll get another chance.
man, I'm sorry to hear that! it's a bummer for sure, but there are always other races and other chances to achieve your dreams. you're a rock star runner and I know you'll come back from this stronger than ever.
Sorry to hear about your race! I hope you are feeling better.
Gosh..i'm so sorry to hear about this, hope you are okay!!!
Tell me there are barf photos.
Sorry to hear! I look forward to the DNF report. I have 2 DNF's of my own.
OMG. I hope you are okay now....
I am so sorry! This meant a lot to you. Try to shake it off. Give it a few days. I hope you are well now. Take care.
So sad! :( What a bummer, man. Hope you're doing okay...
Sorry man. Don't fret it - you did the right thing and stopped. There are a gazillion more marathons to run this year, get better and rock one this fall...like say the Philly Marathon with my in November. Cause we're both shooting for the same sub-3 times, and it'd be fun. Ya know ya want to...you know you do.
Steve, so sorry. I was pulling for ya man. Hang in there and get rest.
What in the world was going on? Gees..hope you're ok....
Glad you were able to end the day/weekend well.. with food!
Race course smells like dead animals because of all the runner barf?
Thanks for the pop-up downpours comment. We sure had a drenching one.
