Snowy Commuter Bike Ride

>> Saturday, November 23, 2024

This past work week was kind of a sh*tty week for biking to work.

The first day I biked, it was quite nice on the way to work: like 55 degrees and overcast. But then the rain started about 90 mintues before they thought, so I biked home in a 50 degree downpour. SUCKFEST.

That moisture turned to snow, and I found myself biking home in snow 2 days later. It was colder (around 35 degrees), but it was SO MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE biking in beautiful big flakes and not wet damp grossness:

Big flakes along River Parkway.

They were gathering on my hoodie (yes... shot while riding).

The paths were clear, but the bridges were starting to collect snow.

Only about a mile visibility over the river because of the snow.
In the middle (white with snow) are the cliffs at the end of Summit Ave.

I've biked to 100% of my classes at the University of Minnesota so far this fall! (And a meeting before the semester started.) If I get in at least 1 ride to work in December (and I'm not planning on slowing down), 2024 will be the first year with outdoor bike miles every month! I can't QUITE say "every WEEK" had outdoor bike miles because I had none one week in mid-January when we were on a family trip to Jamaica, but all of the other weeks this year have had outdoor bike miles - 46 out of 47 weeks currently!
