Thirsty (for knowledge) Thursday: Link Dump

Here are 6 interesting articles that you may enjoy:
• 6 key stretches for pre- and post-run. I do a lot of stretching, but mainly static stretching. This quick slideshow illustrates which dynamic stretches you should be doing pre-run, and what static stretches you should be doing post-run.
• How strength training makes you faster. I’ve always felt this way (just check my weekly training logs), but I never had any stone cold facts to back me up. This article talks about the “neuromuscular gains that boost your speed and efficiency.”
• Freestyle swimming techniques to improve your rotation and position. I’m always looking for swimming help. I remember doing #4 and #5 on this list based on a recommendation of a swim coach at our old gym. #1-3 are easier (and things I’d like to try) to just get your head position down and awareness of your body balance in the water.• How to incorporate “side steps” into your strength routine. [Video] I’ve had a few moves like this “prescribed” to me by different physical therapists over the years. So it must be a worthwhile move.
One of the "easier" floating and position drills.
• How to loosen your feet with a golf ball. This is simple. And I swear on all that is holy that we’ve had a golf ball in a drawer in our dining room and I’ve been rolling my feet like this for years.
• The perfect “pain cave” for your budget. This goes through a few scenarios from being super broke through having an unlimited budget, and it gives ideas on what gear, software, and entertainment to get.
