Week in Review: SOLID!

>> Wednesday, December 11, 2024

Last week was a decent week of training - one of the best since before the TC 10 Mile 2.5 months ago. Here's what it looked like in my training log:

My RUNS were all fine. I had a snowy and not very fast long run on Monday, but I got in the distance without any calf pain. Wednesday's run was easy. And Friday's run were some descending intervals at the track (which was also my first speed workout in my new shoes). It was a total of 21.59 miles for the week, which is slightly on the short side (my long run wasn't SUPER long, and I didn't cool down much after my track workout so I didn't hurt something).

My COMMUTER RIDES were also fine. I've biked to class at the University EVERY DAY this semester! (Mondays and Wednesdays.) And then I also biked back on Friday to pick up some late work and to scan some photos.

My TRAINER WORKOUTS were OK. Thursday I just spun - I didn't want to overdo anything before a track workout on Friday. But then I had a better workout on Saturday where I did 6x5 min efforts. I was just under 3 hours total between those 2 rides, and that's around where I like to be.

SWIMMING was a good/normal workout. I posted about that workout because it was in my "new" suit so I felt (was) fast for the first time in 9-ish months!

And finally, my STRENGTH time was good: just over 13 hours! I've been slowly adding more to my "PT leg exersizes" on M/W/F when I can. Those were all slightly bigger days. T/Th/Sat were all decent upper body days. They were all just slightly-better-than-average days, but that happened most days last week, so that brought up the overall total nicely.

Because of all of this, my "intensity minutes" had an up-tick last week:

The far right is last week - climbed for the last few weeks.
(The tiny day in the middle of the previous week is Thanksgiving.)

Weekly "intensity minutes" over the last year. Only 2 weeks were
higher than last week! (Once in April, and once in May.)

Part of why last week was so big was 3 different rides to-and-from work, so it's not that I was training really crazy. My true "training" was just OK last week - decent runs, a good swim, and an easy and a harder spin.

THIS WEEK is a big/random week for me, so some of these numbers will be smaller for this week. I'm fitting in what I can when I can! No specific events on the horizon, but just trying to get my calf better and be ready for next season.
