Thirsty (for knowledge) Thursday: Gifts for Runners
>> Thursday, December 06, 2018
Tis' the season. Runner's World recently published a list of 15 of the best gifts for runners:
#1: Garmin Fenix 5X:
I've heard good things.
#2: A new pair of running shoes:
Obvious.
#3: Jabra Elite Sport Wireless Earbuds:
Ehh.
#4: Trekz Wireless Headphones:
Again I say: ehh.
#5: Amazfit Bip Smartwatch:
I don't know anything about this.
#6: Nordictrack C990.
I would like one in the basement.
#7: Run Fast. Cook Fast. Eat Slow:
My friends who have this like it.
#8: TriggerPoint GRID Mini Foam Roller:
OOOoooohhh! Yes please.
#9: Balega No Show Socks:
No. Never buy a new brand of socks for a runner. They have THEIR socks. Don't be dumb.
#10: Apple Watch Series 4:
I like having information... but this is too much.
#11: Instant Pot Slow Cooker:
It took us a while to like ours (we really had to sift through a lot of shitty recipes), but now we use it often.
#12: Goodr Sunglasses:
Why?
#13: Runner's World Merchandise:
That "This sucks. I love it. I'm a runner." shirt is pretty great.
#14: Recovery Sandal:
"Recovery sandal?" Sure. If you buy this, I have a "recovery foot massager" to
sell you for the low low price of $9.99. (It looks like a golf ball. Dummy.)
#15: Personalized Medal Holder:
Maybe a good gift. If they have an ego. (I don't mean that in a negative way.)

Since you asked why on the Goodr sunglasses, I needed to comment. I have light sensitivity issues (migraines, etc) so sunglasses are a must for me. I am also very picky about what sunglasses I can run in (pushing up your sunglasses every 3-5 steps on a 10 miler is out of the question). Goodr sunglasses fit really well and are very reasonably priced at $25-35 each. And I can say all of this because I'm not even sponsored by them ... but *ahem* is this thing on ... I'd be happy to be sponsored if they wanted me to ... ;-)
The Fenix watches are great, but $900 is a bit out of most people's price range.
Shinianen, that's good to know!
SteveQ, not once have I seen one that high. Most I looked at are closer to half of that. (Some are a bit "fancier" and cost a bit more, but never that much.)
