100s in the Pool!

>> Monday, November 07, 2022

I hit the pool for some 100s last week! I only do 100s if I'm feeling OK about my body and my swimming - they tend to make my shoulder ache, so I won't do them if I don't feel 100%.

After a 200 warm-up, it was time to work. I decided to do 10x100 with 0:30 rest. Yes, that's longer rest, but I wasn't going to kill myself here.

I started with...

1:26.83

1:27.22

1:28.65

... and wondered if I could stop bleeding time. I was happy with how the workout started, but now could I keep the rest in check? The next 4 were all within 2/3 of a second!

1:27.86

1:28.26

1:27.60

1:27.58

I was ready to try to up the effort a BIT for the final 3. The next one was a bit faster, but then #9 was a bit slower as I hit the final turn HORRIBLY. And then I was able to bust out my fastest all day as my 10th and final 100:

1:26.28

1:27.02

1:25.89

I ended with a 1:27.32 average, and I'm OK with that. I'm quite happy I kept all of them under 1:30, and they were all within 3 seconds.

I thought that may have been my first swim of 100s since before the pandemic (in November of 2019!!), but it turns out I did 10x100 on the first Thursday in November in 2021 exactly 1 year before this swim. (Which is interesting...) In that swim, my fastest was faster (1:25.4) and my slowest was slower (1:29.9 and 1:30.9). And I averaged 1:27.78, which was 0.46 sec slower/100 than this past week. Maybe I'll try to fit in some 100s before Chistmas agan and see if I can get my average into the 1:26s (but that seems like a reeeeeal tall order!)!
