Decent Training Week

>> Thursday, February 06, 2025

After being in Mexico for a week, last week was all about "getting back to normal" with some solid workouts. Here's what it looked like:

• MONDAY: decent long run and good legs. My 6 faster "pace miles" in the middle of this 11.4 mile run averaged 6:13 pace. Decent.

• TUESDAY: good swim and nice upper body. As I posted over the weekend, I had some good upper body days last week!

• WEDNESDAY: easy run, good legs and core, and a outdoor ride to run an errand. I biked to a local photo store to pick up some supplies.

• THURSDAY: more good upper body, a decent trainer workout, and a bike to and from work. It was too nice not to bike to work. But this semester really doesn't lend itself to biking 2x/week like last semester did, so my bike mileage will be down. And my early trainer workout was a basic one: 25 min easy, 3x10 min efforts, and 25 min easy - not TOO hard because I was prepping for intervals the next day.

• FRIDAY: intervals, and good legs and core. I did half-mile intervals along River Road and tried not to die.

• SATURDAY: good upper body and nice trainer ride. Again, I ended the week with a lot of good upper body workouts! Love a week like that! And then I did a better trainer workout: the guts of the workout was 6x5 min efforts with 5 mins easy in between (efforts were hard, hard, standing, standing, descending to a harder gear every min, alternating standing and seated every min).

• SUNDAY: just core. Sunday's are my rest days. I walked a little, stretched OK, did lots of housework and homework with the boys as my wife worked, and then got ready for this week.

This week is shaping up to be a decent one as well. I'm trying to lift hard again this week to have 2 solid weeks in a row before backing off a little next week. Happy training!
