Ready to Race!

>> Saturday, July 20, 2019

Yesterday, I washed my bike for the first time in about 9 months:

Washed, degreased, rinsed, wiped down, and re-lubed.

And I checked on my race wheels (and actually LOOKED at them) for the first time in 10 months:

My disc still had air! My front was flat, but I pumped them both up to see that they'd hold air overnight.

I don't have many specific goals for tomorrow's race. I'd LIKE to average around 1:30/100 yards in the swim, but that's always a crapshoot. I'd LIKE to be around 21 mph on the bike, but I don't know how hilly or technical the course is. (And I don't know what my "most undertrained on the bike in the last 3 years" legs can do.) And I'd LIKE to be under 6:00/mile on the run, but that will be WHATEVER I can do after the swim and bike.

And at that point, I'd LIKE to have placed in my age group (and maybe top-5 overall) but that's up to who shows up and how fast my legs are.

So I guess it's just a race to see where I'm at! I kinda like those races - there's no pressure in a way. "Just see what your body can do." And be ready to suffer.
