Haha! Yea those are pretty good. People have lots of good reasons to make fun of southerners, but marathoning with temps in the 80's is not one of them. I can't believe how many people thought that was hot yesterday.
Related to #3, this made me giggle, particularly the caption: http://www.sportspickle.com/picture/12254/world-cloud-of-boston-marathon-mens-winners-since-1991
Carolina John, It's not so much that 80 is hot. Us northerners run plenty of marathons at that temp. Just not in April, when people aren't acclimated to it. 80 degrees IS hot in April, even for much of the south.
Ha! I'm with Jumper on this. I overheated and bonked on a run last weekend when it was 70. This past weekend, it was raining and 50, and I still got warm. Give me a 10 degree race anyway, and lets see how many southerns start THAT race. :) It's all about acclimatization!
Hi folks. I'm Steve. I became Ironman in WI in 2007. Now I'm stuck somewhere between teaching, making photos, raising my sons, training for triathlons, and everything else.
