First Outdoor Intervals of 2009

>> Thursday, April 16, 2009

I hit the track last night at 8:30 after I got home from teaching. I wanted to do some 1600 repeats. The University of St. Thomas football team was practicing (in April?!?), so the lights were on, which helped A LOT! I ran the first one easy, and picked it up on the next 2. It was a great interval session!

3 x 1600 with 90 seconds rest between:

- 2:51 + 2:49 = 5:40
- 2:49 + 2:49 = 5:38
- 2:43 + 2:42 = 5:25

Average: 5:34.3
(I'm pretty sure that's my fastest average ever for 3 1600s!!)

I would have liked to have done 4, but my heel was just a little sore before starting the workout (it felt fine during), so I held back to 3. Three of us are doing the MDRA Mudball 4 Mile Cross Country Race on Sunday, so 4 1600s would have been helpful. Oh well. Still a GREAT feeling workout!

I'll be back Sunday or Monday with muddy, muddy photos of Pharmie, Steph, and I!! Can't wait!!

Speedy! About the calf thing, well you see, it's simply an irrational fear/hate of them. Don't like to touch them, talk about them... ironic how I'm dealing with a bad calf issue right now (1.5 weeks before my first marathon). So that's it really. I just don't like them to be touched or talked about. I have gotten past it enough to get the deep tissue massage though, baby steps!

Nice run. Awesome splits! And at 8:30 at night, no less. 8:30 for me is cookie and milk time. I could down 1600 calories in about the amount of time it takes you to run an 800. Wanna race?

Hey, that'll help ya for Sunday, too! Great workout. Maybe you should always run while the football team practices?

Impressive 1600 times, especially the 5:25. You're going to have a great racing season.

Ok, I just finish a two hour run and then I log on to see your mile splits...I'm so freakin' SLOW.

Alright, i thought I had come to a "happy place" about my slow run pace but I guess not. At least I could still whoop your butt on the bike. :0)

Half the reason I ran stadiums in college was because the football team was practicing at the same time.
