We’re Number 2! We’re Number 2!

Thanks to all of your votes, I placed second in the RaceAthlete “Best Endurance Blog of 2007!” (Big thanks to Kim for nominating me!)
It looks like the Mid-West gave me a lot of love!
Finally, in some actual athletic-related news, I’m getting my 2008 schedule in line (to be posted in the next few weeks). I think I’ll be running my first half marathon at the end of January at the St. Paul Winter Carnival. I’ve ramped up my running miles in the last few weeks after not doing squat after Ironman. The weekend after the half, there’s a 900 step stair-climb in the tallest building in downtown St. Paul that I’m already registered for. We’ll see how the year pans out!

Congratulation on the 2nd place, and keep up the great work. Hard to believe you have never ran a official 1/2 marathon.
Don't forget to put the Polar Plunge on your 2008 race calendar :)
Laura
I think all the midwest voted for you simply because they wanted a party :-)
Congrats on 2nd place!!! What an amazing accomplishment. I am sure everyone is proud of you. WTG!
Well done, Steve. Keep up the great work, and good luck with your race season in 2008!
Nice job on second place! :) Fun site you have here ;) Thanks for popping by my blog.
That's my flag on the eastern side of the great state of WA!
Sorry I will not be able to make your party - prior commitments and being 3/4 of a continent away makes it a bit challenging.
Congratulations!
P.S. Please keep your wanker warm during that upcoming half. We don't need anymore of those stories (nor glossy pictures of half eaten mice). All the rest if good.
Congrats Steve! You've won me over with many a post, but your latest uh-hmm, situation, had me laughing so hard I was crying. Well done!
Congrats!!I'd say you are already the favorite for '08!
congrats; love reading your stuff...
socal loves steve in a speedo too!! hairy chest, shaved chest, doesn't matter.
i made reference to your "situation" in a recent post. so glad i live where it's still shorts weather!!! i cannot ever complain about weather. cold here is like 60 degrees!!!
Nice job! And maybe it's time to throw some warmer weather races in CA onto your schedule...
There is always next year...
Congrats on the bloggy accomplishment.
Congrats! I am with Danielle. Party!
Congrats..you should have been first, I never even heard of that "other" blog..hee hee..
Congrats, thank you for giving me something to do while at work!
Congrats on #2!! Not too shabby! Or should I say not too hairy.
Yay, I am the voter from North Dakota!
Congrats on getting 2nd place! I totally think you should do a party anyway. Too bad I live to far to attend!

woohoo! Congrats!
Congratulations on your strong performance.
Stay tuned...
Hey, I raced with you at IM Moo 2007 but I'm not on your sidebar.
**sniff**
congrats steve on the second place....keep up the fun stuff..
havent tried your improvised little banana sack thingy you came up with... i usually just stuff a sock in it.. mr. happy always comes through smiling after a run in the cold
Great job!! I knew my vote had to count for something. And seeing your sense of humor I am sure you appreciate being #2
Congrats on your 2nd place win! Good stuff! (But don't quit your day job- or your racing!) :-)
Congrats on your 2nd place! How exciting!
I think I am one of your "near-by MN folks"! Plus, I think I was the only one in the state of ND that voted for you! :)
If you throw a party, you need to setup a webcam channel so those of use "far far away" can peek in on it :-)
CONGRATS! And I like lance's idea above. There's no way I'm coming to WI in the winter.
Oops, you're in MN, which I actually will go to in January because of the Zoom Yah Yah *indoor* marathon, but in 2009 not 2008. So you'll just have to win #1 next year :)
Hey there. I'm new to this, and found your blog. Fun stuff. Congrats on the win.
You may have already done this, but would love to see it (again?)--I'm tagging you.

p.s. My girlfriend actually gave me a contraption referred to as "THE HAND". She did this after I told her about running in the Czech Republic in 4' of snow with my hand down the front of my pants. It's a snuggly, fuzzy, wrap around those special parts kind of a deal--and it has a HAND embroidered on it. I think you need one of these.
