Intervals Along Lake Michigan in Milwaukee
>> Monday, July 07, 2025
WHEW!! It's been a wild few weeks! First a 4 day trip up to the North Shore with my boys, niece, and nephew, then 2 days camping in WI, then 10 days in Hawaii, and finally 2 days across WI.
After getting back from Hawaii early on Wednesday morning, my boys and I left for Milwaukee early on Thursday because Henry had qualified for Summer Nationals in fencing! We went to the art museum, had a bite at the 3rd Street Market Hall, and then got up early the next morning to get Henry to his tournament. I got up EXTRA early (4:20 a.m.) so I could get in some intervals along Lake Michigan. The plan was to do 4 x (800 then 400) with 2:00 rest between everything.
Slight Chicago vibes.
Lit up because it was early on July 4th!
Lots of lightening in distance as thunderstorms were possible...
... also, a very menacing sky!
Down bursts in the distance on either side of the art museum!...
... which was also lit up red, white, and blue for July 4th!
[Garmin set to 1/4 mile splits, so the intervals are a 1/2 mile (two 1/4 mile splits) and then a 1/4 mile.]
2:37.7 (1:18, 1:19)
1:15.8
2:36.9 (1:17, 1:19)
1:11.7
2:39.3 (1:17, 1:22)
1:16.5
2:39.8 (1:19, 1:20)
1:12.6
Those got rough. To have my last two 800s be my SLOWEST two 800s is very rare for me - I was HURTING out there!
Along the lake and through a park. And back. And forth. And back.
Close of up the middle where I walked betweens 800s and 400s.
The splits show the workout.
The long pond on the north end of my intervals (resting after my first 400).
The trail in the park was kinda rough, and it wasn't as
light out as this long exposure photos makes it seem!
Before my last 400 back along the lake. With showers moving away.
Running back to the hotel as my cool down.
Hotel "breakfast of champions" after intervals.
Off to Henry's fencing tournament!!
He scored double the touches compared to the Junior Olympics this past winter (8 vs 4)!
Congrats Henry!
