Thirsty (for knowledge) Thursday: Nick Symmonds Shares His Tips to Run a Faster Mile

>> Thursday, March 18, 2021

I know Nick Symmonds as a pro 800 meter runner, but he also has a mile PR of 3:56. And he's been coaching athletes as well. Here's a quick video where he breaks down his 3 biggest points on how to run a faster mile (and then ends with a big ad for his coaching program):

His points are:

1: Understand Pacing.
2: Periodize Training.
3: Footwear.

(And then he goes on to talk about his $40 app full of workouts and tips for the mile. I'm not affiliated with him - just sharing his link.)

Unrelated to running a fast mile: Here's a video of Nick Symmonds talking about racing to make his first Olympic team in 2008. And here's the raw video from that race. So fun to watch, AND to hear what was going on in his head before and during the race.
