Thirsty (for knowledge) Thursday: Some Swim and Bike Links
>> Thursday, June 14, 2018
Here are 4 links worth a look:
• A “Back to Basics” set of drills in the pool from Sara McLarty. I’m not one for drills, but this workout (of 1600-3800 depending on how you do it) has very purposeful drills for triathletes.
• 3 ways to improve your cycling away from the bike. Two authors of a cycling book presented 3 things that “cyclists need to do away from the bike to improve their performance on the bike” during a webinar on training for long-distance cycling events. Read the article for the details, but the 3 points were strength training, core exercises, and flexibility.
• 5 “Beginner Basics” about the swim from Ironman.com. Some of these are very basic and for true beginners, but others I was able to glean a little wisdom from.
• Improve your climbing withOUT any hills. If you’re training for a hilly race, this article offers some suggestions for training where you can’t find hills. Click the link for full details, but they offer using headwinds, assuming a climbing position, and using FTP workouts. It ends with a sample workout.
