800s, 400s, and 200s at the Track

>> Tuesday, April 22, 2025

I hit the track late last week for one final good workout before a lazier Easter weekend. I did a workout that I've only done once before: 3x (800, 400, 200, 200).

I didn't have any time goals, but I just wanted to run hard because it was just over a week to my first race of the year (now it's just a few days away!). Here's what I ran:

3x (800, 400, 200, 200) with 90 sec between intervals and 2:00 between the 3 sets:

1:19 + 1:20 = 2:40.0
1:14.0
0:34.8
0:34.4

1:17 + 1:17 = 2:34.9
1:14.2
0:35.6
0:34.0

1:16 + 1:15 = 2:31.5
1:12.3
0:35.1
0:33.9

That was decently close compared to this workout last year! The first 800 was a bit slower this year, but the final 2 were very similar to last year's 800s. The 400s were also similar: the first was similar, the 2nd was a bit slower this year, but the 3rd was a bit faster this year. And the 200s were evenly split compared to last year: the first 200 of each "pair" was a bit slower, but the final 200 of each pair was faster this year!

Most "laps" at the lower left, but some at the upper right from the 200s.

In this pace graph, you can see the repeats of 800, 400, 200, and 200.

FIRST RACE OF THE YEAR IS COMING UP! Back soon with some pre-race thoughts / dreams / goals.
