Friday April 17: The Night I Lost The Bet

>> Saturday, April 18, 2009

Yep. It finally happened. My dead toenails held out for NEARLY 3 months.

Here’s what they looked like 1 month after getting beat up in a rough run:

Here’s what they looked like after about 2 months:

But last night, one of the dead toenails decided to quit life. I felt it shift in my sock. I pulled off my sock, and this is what I saw:

I flexed it over to the right:

After a little tug, it was off:

Pharmie was GIDDY when she learned that she won the bet. Remember, the deal was that she got a 30 minute massage from me if either nail fell off, and I got a 30 minute massage from her if they both stayed on. Let’s just say the news put her in a good mood:

Well, it looks like I’m doing the MDRA Mudball Run tomorrow with 9.5 toenails instead of 10. And it looks like I need to break out the massage oils. Now, please excuse me while I go rub my wife.

Yay for Pharmie...nothing better than a good rub rub. Eh, who needs toenails anyways?

Chloe 6:57 AM, April 18, 2009

Toe nails are over rated!!

Robert 7:19 AM, April 18, 2009

Did your toenail go in your journal too?

Jess 7:20 AM, April 18, 2009

You have a gap between your big toe and second toe that could fit a whole other toe!

Congrats to Pharmie on her victory!

You are a master mind - what a WIN - WIN bet!

Yay Pharmie wins! Now Steve...have you been moonlighting...? Taking part in popular music videos...? Spotted this and I'm sure I recognise the socks and 'bowl of sunshine' particularly around 1min 26secs:

Or is this the prelude to Pharmies massage?!

Tisk tisk. You let your body fail you. I hate to say this, but I'm going to need a man card.

Kelly 2:56 PM, April 18, 2009

Well, I hope you at least washed your hands before touching your wife!

Casey 3:06 PM, April 18, 2009

Yark. You should keep it in a jar with any other nails you lose along the way.

And then on really good, upbeat days, sniff that jar and it will bring you back down to a normal level of apathy.

Lost one on Thursday myself...I'd never bet on mine.

Amanda 8:12 PM, April 18, 2009

are you sure it wasn't friday the 17th?
Anyway, sucks about the toenail...mine look the same. Same two toenails. The guys at work refer to the toe as "the one with the chocolate chip". I've decided that when it does fall off, I'm giving it to them :)

Steve Stenzel 8:35 PM, April 18, 2009

Oops, yeah Amanda... I fixed it. I'm a dolt...

;)

UGLY BUT FUNNY!

Yay for Pharmie!!!!

Kin 3:40 PM, April 19, 2009

Did you scrapbook the toenail?

Waiting for Zufan! 6:20 PM, April 19, 2009

Yeah, that is nasty, and happened to me, too, until I learned that despite how much I'd like to have less-ski-like feet, I needed to go up in size. Bigger shoes, and I bet you keep your nails next time.

Trishie 7:35 PM, April 19, 2009

congrats to pharmie on the massage !

triguyjt 8:13 PM, April 19, 2009

I am too lazy to go back and look it up for sure, but I am pretty certain I called it :) It was SO going to fall off!

Marlene 7:23 AM, April 23, 2009

This really sounds like a win-win situation....
