At the end of last month, I did a few swim workouts of 200s (sort of my "go to" swim workout), and a
decent swim full of 100s. But then I've been mixing it up over the last few swims.
I started May with a
3x500 swim. I hadn't done that in a while! Swimming with my Garmin, I know I don't keep my 100 splits as fast as when I maually hit the button with my old Timex watch. So they were nothing great:
8:02 (1:36, 1:39, 1:37, 1:37, 1:34)
8:05 (1:39, 1:41, 1:39, 1:34, 1:33)
7:55 (1:37, 1:40, 1:35, 1:35, 1:28)
Then the 2nd week of May, I did a
pyramid swim:
After a warm-up and before some drills and a cool-down,
I did 100, 200, 300, 400, 300, 200, and 100.
Finally last week (the 3rd week of May), I did a
7x200 swim. This was actually in the 50 meter pool in the natatorium, and it was set up the long way (which is rare)! So after a warm-up, I had to stop and change my Garmin to 50 meter laps so it would record the distance properly. So when I started a new swim on the Garmin, my 200s looked like this:Then the 2nd week of May, I did a
pyramid swim:

The natatorium post-swim!
None of these swims were great, but I'm just happy to be mixing up the distances and workouts. I MIGHT just try
a bunch of 50s in the pool this week being I've been doing enough swimming to feel like I won't hurt myself going so short and hard. Stay tuned to see if that works out...
