Pre-Race IM NO: T-Minus 10 Hours!

Gotta keep this quick!! Here are 6 quick things:

1. Went for a “test swim” in Lake Pontchartrain this morning with our Team Evotri buddies. Here’s Phamrie and I before starting:

And here’s some of the team after we swam for 12-25 minutes:

Yes, the water near the start is THAT shallow!

2. We wandered around Jackson Square, ate some crappy food, and had a good time the rest of the morning. Here’s Pharmie and I in Jackson Square:

3. We found our bikes!! They were shipped a few weeks ago, arrived in NOLA, were put together by Bicycle World, and were waiting for us in transition. Being Goldilocks is a bright gold bike with a white seat and a red computer, I was able to spot her from across transition. Really. Ask Pharmie. I got her set-up and gave her a kiss good-night after leaving her in transition:

4. On the way out of transition, the most amazing thing happened!! A big SUV taxi stopped right in front of us, and out came Chris McCormack (Macca). Yes, THEE MACCA!! I snapped a photo:

And then another:

(notice his bike number...)

Our eyes met (it was magical!) and he cracked a big smile that was a oh-you-must-be-a-fan-because-I-just-caught-you-taking-pictures-of-me sort of smile I stuck out my hand as he walked by and said “Good luck tomorrow!” He said “Hey thanks, man!" as he smiled big and shook my hand! I ran back to the Team Evotri van and IMMEDIATELY had JP touch my hand because he has a HUGE man-crush on Macca. (I might have one too...) That was AWESOME!

5. After a quick rinse back at the house, we took off for supper. I hope that pizza holds up tomorrow!!

6. If anyone wants to track me tomorrow, my number is 1169. Pharmie's is 1730. I think this link should take you right to IM NO athlete tracker: http://ironman.com/events/ironman70.3/neworleans70.3?show=tracker

If anyone stops by to check on us, please leave an up-to-date comment as to how Pharmie and/or I are currently doing so anyone clicking on the comments can see about where we're at! Keep us all in your thoughts tomorrow!! I hope to be back tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon with a quick “we're alive” post when the race is done! Here’s to a great day!!!

  8. I've had a very similar encounter with Macca... very nice guy, actually chatted a bit with him as we were standing in transition. Started as the "I just caught you admiring" moment too.

Looks like both of your races are off to a good start!
