In an attempt to
get your vote, here are some fun, official photos from the Monster Dash 5K that I ran 10 days ago.
Here’s the group that won best “family costume.” Yes, their Burly baby stroller was covered up as “The Mystery Machine.” How sweet is this:
Here’s Cruella de Vil, along with her Dalmatian children:
I was out cheering before they had finished, and the Dalmatians stopped to dance with me in front of the boom box as Cruella laughed and took photos. It was pretty sweet.
Here’s the guy who came in second in the “individual male” costume contest. He was dressed to the nines:
And this... well... this is nuts. These 2 guys ran the HALF MARATHON as the Jamaican Bobsled Team:
Here I am, dressed as “Steve Reap-fontaine,” just before the start of the race:
This next shot is CREEPY, and I love it! Remember in my race report, I had a photo of a few boys that lined up right in front of me just before the start of the race? Here’s a shot from beyond the starting line, and it looks like Dracula and I are going to steal these boy’s souls. Look at the middle boy - I think he just shat himself:
Just after the start. I have a bit of a camel toe...
Rounding the final hill, heading into the finish, STILL with that camel toe:
Hitting the line:
Initially, they had posted that I had finished 3rd, behind a woman and an nameless, ageless, sexless, hermaphrodite:
But now they’ve updated it, and I came in 2nd behind a young man:
Again, if you didn’t see my previous post, please go here to vote for Steve in a Speedo as “Best Endurance Blog of 2008:”
http://www.everymantri.com/everyman_triathlon/best-sport-endurance-blog.htmlI’ll be back with fun stuff for the next 11 days in an effort to get your vote! AND I’m working up something
big for
this Saturday. If it goes through as planned, it should be a pretty funny day. Yep, it’s a race in a NEW COSTUME! You won’t want to miss it!
I only have one thing to say about the Jamaican Bobsled team:
ReplyDeleteHOLY SHIT.
Holy shiznit! Are you LEVITATING in your second camel-toe pic? I guess you have to in order to post that kind of speediness :)
ReplyDeleteROFLMAO DUDE! Love the pic of you behind boys (no I don't mean that in a gross way. Perv)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the bobsled team. HOLY COW!
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are so funny, and you and your costumes.. AMAZING! You are hilarious and I'm constantly laughing while reading your blog. Thanks for making me laugh. And yes, I voted for you.
LOL! The camel toe shots totally made laugh. Hehe! Love the Jamaican Bobsled team. Man, some peeps went all out!
ReplyDeleteYou forgot to mention that the bobsled team ran fast! they were ahead of me until about mile 5 and i HAD to pass them. I think they hit a pretty windy point around Lake Calhoun which slowed them down a bit, but they were speedy!
ReplyDeleteBTY, unless you are really a girl, you can't get camel toe. I think we refer to the boy's version of that as 'frog eyes'.
You're not gonna start calling us at home with automated polling questions, are you?
ReplyDelete"I am Steve Stenzel and I endorse this statement"
ReplyDeleteNice ring to it. Carry on with your bad self!
Those contacts on Dracula are MAJOR CREEPY!!!
ReplyDeleteThat Jamaican Bobsled team is right on. Just imagine how hard it was to do the pacing and not have one person hit the wall from a pace that was too fast or screw up the bobsled because the rear guy was just a little too fast.
I need to run with these fun people.
ReplyDeleteI was also amazed at the Jamaican Bobsled team!
ReplyDeleteLOL at the Jamaican bobsled team. That takes talent!
ReplyDeletethe two seriously ran in that the whole race?! WOW. Nice camel toe. LOL
ReplyDeleteThose poor boys! You probably scare the shit out of them!
ReplyDeleteNice job on placing 2nd! :)
I love it...Steve Reap-fontaine! You got my vote.
ReplyDeleteI just voted for you... well, you and 2 other blogs, we had to mark 3. BUT you know I love your blog, you are a Ricky Martin fan so you have to be the coolest! ha ha ha ha
ReplyDeleteThose costumes were awesome. I hope you at least offered that kid a change of shorts.
ReplyDeleteTHe costumes are great... esp the Jamaican Bobsled Team. I wonder how they faired in the 5k?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a fantastic finish!
ReplyDeleteLove the Scooby family, that was the BEST!
The Scooby family definitely rocked...but dude who can seriously run a half marathon in a cardboard box with another dude! I hope those guys won something!
ReplyDeleteohhhh that one would be fun. I'd have a hard time concentrating though with all the funny costumes!
ReplyDeleteCamel Toe....EEEWWWWWW!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I was going to say you look like your flying, but joyrun's phrasing is much better: you're totally levitating.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good laugh-- I think now everytime I'm running in the dark, alone, I'm going to imagine you in that costume creepily levitating towards me and freak myself out.
How did you breathe through that mask, and still run a 18:24!!!???!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 2nd place (and your time improved, too)!! The Scooby family was hilarious! Totally creeped out by you and the Dracula, and how in heaven's name did that bobsled team run 13 freakin' miles hooked together by a cardboard box?!?! What the devil?
ReplyDeleteAbout the camel toe/frog eyes/whatever- yeah, thanks for pointing it out. I was just thinking how long your stride must be, because your back leg is always so far behind you (you freaky levitator, you).
Steve- I would SERIUOSLY like to contribute to your costumes! Email me and I will forward you some options....mcicci76@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteThose are great photos. I can NOT believe the Jamaican bobsled team... wow.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on another strong finish!
Good luck with your campaign. ;)
way to proudly rock the camel toe!
ReplyDeleteHey steve I would LOVE to have you come down and join in the fun at the Living History Farms Race in '09. It's one that many people are dressed up for so you'd fit right in. Are you planning on coming down to defend your title at the donut run in Ames next year?
ReplyDeleteI had no idea this was a dress-up event. It makes your outfit FAR more normal!
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE the Jamaican Bobsled Team. I was once on a Jamaican Flipcup Team...
... not the same thing.
Nice race, but better costume... Steve Reap-fontaine... LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteLove your costume!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on another awesome race.
Dude, you rock!!
ROTFLMAO....the camel toe pic made me spit water out. Yes, you have the best costume. From now on I am going to be searching for the reaper at my local races. ha!
ReplyDeleteFrog's eyes! lol! As a deviant in good standing who's attended every one of the union meetings, I'm a little p*ssed I didn't get the memo on that name. I never heard it before.
ReplyDelete18:38 in that get-up? And with those frog's eyes staring up at you?
All I can say is ...wow.
I guess "Steve Post-Mortem-Fontaine" would have been too unwieldy a name?
I love your blog and check it on a daily basis. Just wanted to let you know I voted for you!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the race. You were smokin fast - especially in a costume.
ReplyDeleteA half in a two-man bobsled - that's awesome!
Great photos!!
ReplyDeleteYou had me at camel toe!!!
LOL looove the photos :) i still dont know how you run in those costumes!
ReplyDeletebobsled dues...hilarious...
ReplyDeleteplus..you sprinting in that costume...wow... you're a freak...
cool
Great pix Steve! I love the word "shat". LOL LOL!
ReplyDeleteHey there!
ReplyDeleteSaw your comment on my blog so I checked out yours. If you saw a girl standing all by herself with a Team Ortho course marshall bib on along the parkway during the Monster Half marathon. I just had to stand by my car at the intersection of the Parkway and Pleasant Ave and make sure no cars ran the police tape. Tough job :-P Loved the bobsled guys!
Ran next to the bobsled team for a short while, they were playing Bob Marly and cracked open red stripes at mile 1.5.
