I'm by no means the fastest one out there, but I'm ALWAYS showing up. :)Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01212228308225991239noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29677084.post-63744306195043170442013-01-10T11:45:53.791-06:002013-01-10T11:45:53.791-06:00so.... step 1: be fast. step 2: be smart. got it...so.... step 1: be fast. step 2: be smart. got it.Carolina Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14834384961037080805noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29677084.post-69944150162299303162013-01-10T10:18:13.003-06:002013-01-10T10:18:13.003-06:00Guess I should point out that I was a director of ...Guess I should point out that I was a director of a race series once (UMTR ultramarathon series) and my rules to make it completely fair made it so complicated that I was the only one who understood them. I also won my age class twice while directing the series, but really... it was fair!SteveQhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16943650844671498074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29677084.post-22142288257076965352013-01-10T10:03:57.146-06:002013-01-10T10:03:57.146-06:00Anon #2, that's a good point too!...Anon #2, that's a good point too!...Steve Stenzelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11419298404210612118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29677084.post-33747635585816387822013-01-10T10:03:28.475-06:002013-01-10T10:03:28.475-06:00Anon, that WOULD make sense. But I think it all comes back to a mixture of what's FAIREST and what's EASIEST to score. (Most of my thoughts on how it could be different would NOT be easy to score.)

Marathoners ARE out there longer, but it's not a "marathon" series. It's just a running series. But the way it is now, it DOES help if you're faster at 10K or shorter races (there were 8 races of 10K or shorter last year, and 6 of half marathon or longer).Steve Stenzelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11419298404210612118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29677084.post-89478459231558279362013-01-10T09:59:38.130-06:002013-01-10T09:59:38.130-06:00I totally disagree with the previous comment. The ...I totally disagree with the previous comment. The Grand Prix is all about being the best all around runner, the runner that is good at a variety of distances. It's a well balanced series with lots of different distances, yet only a couple 1 mile races and a couple marathons to allow people to skip those if it's not their thing and not throw the whole series. It's about being inclusive to all runners, not just marathoners or milers.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29677084.post-85045019423164429572013-01-10T09:01:43.944-06:002013-01-10T09:01:43.944-06:00I still think marathon finishers should get more g...I still think marathon finishers should get more grand prix points than 1 mile runners (I mean, they are out there for 3 hours vs. 6 minutes) bit I don't make the rules.
