The Jeopardy 20

>> Thursday, December 11, 2008

I jumped on the trainer last night. I watched Jeopardy while biking. I did 20 second sprints every time someone gave a wrong answer. So I coined this workout “The Jeopardy 20.” Double Jeopardy was rough. And there was a contestant named Barb who did NOT make it easy for me...

Then I stretched afterwards while playing a quick game of Madden 94 on my Super Nintendo:

Yes, my SUPER NINTENDO. It’s an oldie but a goodie. Like the missionary position. And hot cocoa. (But not at the same time.)

p.s. I’m thinking about Tuesday Dome Intervals at (duh) the Dome. One lap repeats (about 600 meters) with about 60 seconds rest. Anyone interested?

Damn Barb. How inconsiderate.

LOL at your list of oldies but goodies. :)

Haha, sounds fun... sort of!

That's a good idea! I might just have to incorporate that into my workouts.

And yeah Barb is a bitch.

I don't know Barb, and I've never seen Barb, and, to be honest, I have my suspicions that "Barb" isn't even her real name, yet nevertheless I feel I should come to her defense by pointing out that Barb ...um ... she ...

Hmmm. I got nuthin.

Screw you, Barb! You're worse than Hitler!!1!

I love structuring my workouts like that, especially when I'm inside and the TV will distract me and make me slow down if I'm not careful!

My son and I are going to be at the Dome this evening. Not sure about Tuesday as the kids have a piano recital/party/whatever. Depends on what time they finish.

I still love Super Nintendo for the exploits, especially EA Sports games.

Cowboys HB Toss Left to Emmit Smith is virtually unstoppable even when you know it's coming.

My brother would run the score up to 100+ points just to watch me blow a gasket. Sure I could have picked the Cowboys for myself, but once upon a time there was such a thing as pride and integrity in video gaming. 49er fans didn't pick the Cowboys in 1994.

What time at the dome? Interestingly enough, I will be int he twin cities area that day. I doubt I will do intervals, but running inside might be necessary for my FL blood and it would spectacular to meet up!

You can post a time here or email me at tygress422 at yahoo dot com.

That's a cool workout idea...

...and what wrong with the missionary AND hot cocoa?

TRI-ROB 11:30 AM, December 11, 2008

What, exactly, is wrong with the missionary position and hot cocoa at the same time? Adds a little "danger" to the old standard does it not? Hmmm... now you've got me thinkin... although... there's nothing sexy about being scalded... unless you're into that... not that there's anything wrong with that... personal pref... oh geeze... I'm shutting up now... shutting up.

Breathe...

I do similar stuff on the trainer...every time a particular character comes on the set, or at the start of each commercial (if it's not TIVOd), or each time someone misses a letter on wheel of fortune (yeah, I watch it from time to time)

I love watching TV while working out. I'm trying to convice my dad to make one of the bedrooms in our house a gym ha ha. he doesn't like that idea. :/

Hey Steve,
I have stayed away from the Dome bc the HARD concrete surface wasnt too forgiving to my lower body, legs, achilles ( hmm? thought?) so you wont likely see me there :) How about Treadmill runs at the Y?
Take care.

Come on. Don't you play the Tecmo bowl?

Formulaic 1:17 PM, December 11, 2008

Great Idea for a workout!

I started with a sprint for 5 followed by 5 rest, but it was ROUGH. I read about it from some pro. (I guess that's why their pros!)

I like this idea better. I'll have to give it a try.

loved the super nintendo back in the day. now i'm trying to avoid a wii addiction.

the jeopardy 20 sounds tough. might have to give it a try one night. good call!

Nitmos 1:32 PM, December 11, 2008

Tecmo Bowl was the upgrade to the wonderful Odyssey systems of the early 80's. Good times.

Trisaratops 7:51 PM, December 11, 2008

I still kick it with the Adventures of Zelda on my ORIGINAL NINTENDO. Yeah that's RIGHT. BRING IT.

"Not at the same time?" Wuss.

Very creative workout planning.

awesome idea for a workout!

ummm so i have sega genesis and super nintendo! we should have old school game stations playoffs!

BaddApple 6:13 PM, December 12, 2008

I make video games for a living so I'm glad to see people incorporating them to into their workouts. I used to play Madden on my Sega Genesis and ride my bike in the late 80's. Techmo bowl is now out of the Nintendo DS and it’s pretty neat so you can relive your glory days. I ran the Dome on Thursday night, but I don't think I could keep up with you guys. Maybe see you there.

RoadBunner 11:51 PM, December 14, 2008

I think Super Nintendo is still the best game system ever made. I miss it :(
