7 Mile Runs

>> Saturday, December 13, 2008

I woke up this morning to a BEAUTIFUL 30 degree day! So I busted out a nice 7 mile run in my YakTrax. Here’s how a few 7 milers stack up over the last 2 months:

Date / 1st Half / 2nd Half / Total / Pace

10/23, 24:04 + 22:29 = 46:33 (6:39)
11/06, 23:59 + 22:18 = 46:17 (6:36)
11/25, 24:00 + 21:09 = 45:09 (6:27)
12/13, 24:08 + 22:21 = 46:29 (6:38)

(all with sweet negative splits and VERY consistent first halves - within 9 seconds)

This last one may have been a little slower because I was in my YakTrax and because I tried a new workout 2 days ago that made my butt pretty sore (more on that in my next post). Or maybe it was a little slower because my feet were being destroyed:

Next week my half marathon training starts! And if your interested, check back on Monday for details regarding Dome Running on Tuesday evening! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a holiday party that won't host itself...

OUCH! So gross yet so you ;-)

RBR 11:49 AM, December 13, 2008

Yay! Blister photos are back! It has been a while old friends!

I can't even comment on your 7 mile times. I am not worthy. I hope you have a great party!

Steve, no worries, Yak Trax will always slow yo down. You were probably working just as hard or harder with those on your shoes. Also, they tend to crimp and cause abrasion resulting in...well...abrasions like those in your photo.

Which half are you doing? My wife will be doing her first in May at Lake Mtka.

Ouch! I get really bad blisters too...I should say "used to" b/c I found the wonders of duct tape! I now tape all ten toes and the sides of my feet before heading out for anything longer than 5 miles.

ewwwwwwwwwwww

why are your feet so badly blistered?

Sarah 2:23 PM, December 13, 2008

I salute your superior speed sir :) Those are nice times.

Interesting two tone effect on your feet. Which colour hurts more?

Casey 3:06 PM, December 13, 2008

Great job on your splits! That's really awesome.

I was eating a pomegranate when I saw the photo of your foot. It made it taste really weird. :)

Good luck on your training!

It's "warm" here too... but I wouldn't call it beautiful. I'd rather spend my afternoon holed up in a windowless room at work. Yay!

Jess 3:52 PM, December 13, 2008

30 degrees is "beautiful"? Ah, crap. I'm gonna freeze to death in MN.

Kim 6:57 PM, December 13, 2008

Danielle in Iowa in Ireland 11:30 AM, December 14, 2008

Gross!

Hey, what half-marys are you doing? I have been trying to find some in this area that happen before April, since I have to be on a boat for all of April and will probably lose any running fitness I have now!

KK 11:30 AM, December 14, 2008

Just when I was starting to think that Steve hadn't posted a gross foot shot in a long while, you deliver. Thanks, I got my fix. Also, loved the line "Now if you'll excuse, I have a holiday party that won't host itself." LOL at that one.

X-Country2 11:58 AM, December 14, 2008

It was almost 50 here in Nebraska yesterday, and I didn't know what to do with myself. Long run in shorts? Yes please!

Take care of those feet.
